Now I have never trained my dog anything like , sit, stay, etc.

But even with my general slackness she seems to know a lot. Stuff she underdstands;

She knows her own name.
She knows the names of her two doggy friends and which is which
Dad
Outside
Inside
Lead on
Cheese
Biscuits
Downstairs
Bed bed
Walkies
Cat
Pigeon
Down
No
Frisbee

That's all I can think of right now but maybe more.

Oh yes and:
Bibbedy bib (when I want him to move)
Milk (said in a very high pitched voice)
Are we going to bed now?
Come on kids (to him and cat)
Wait a mo
Mum get it for him (toy or treat)
You go first (when walking along a narrow path)
Wait for mum
Hold up
There's loads more - I talk to him all the time! Incessantly in fact!

Eric knows all the usual ones sit, stay, wait, leave it, bring it, get down, lie down, on the mat, slippers, bed, bath, be clipped, mummy, daddy, the dc's names, various dog friend's names, names of toys, choose, ham, dance, hold hands, spin, roll over, up, be quick and then silly ones pucker up (to get a kiss), ticky (belly rub) say sorry (cover his face and whine), round of applause (to get him to strut round in circles) and meerkat (to sit on his haunches with his front paws off the floor) and more that I've forgotten. He'll also crawl on his belly if I wag my finger and he'll dance if I shimmy backwards without me needing to say a word. We have daft routines as well so we watch GBBO and he gets really excited if we declare him star baker and he cries like a baby if we tell him to leave the tent. He's a clever and very entertaining dog tbh.

Here's Gary Larson...

How many words do you think your dog knows/understands?
villainousbroodmare · 05/09/2016 15:51

I counted it up one day, about 80 including some spelled out words like W.A.L.K. Also a lot of names of toys. Then when the toys eventually get destroyed that's a word gone.

I need to add chicken to my list... mother in law was just round and said it to me in conversation and the dog went mad! Bless him, there's no chicken today mate haha.
