I would say without doubt that they would swamp them to death awaiting cuddles
However years ago and with different dogs to the ones I have now (although also very gentle and friendly dogs that I would have no issues trusting)...
I had a knock at the door, not expecting anyone and I shut the glass kitchen door and walked into the hall to open the front door. Leaving the dogs in the kitchen.
A man tried to force his way into the house, we struggled at the door and I did manage to get the door shut and keep him out, but the change in those dogs was scary. They changed from the usual 'someone at the door bark' to aggressive, scary attack type noises. The were hurling themselves at the kitchen door and I do believe if they had been able to get free they would have attacked that man.
That was the only act of aggression they ever showed in their whole lives, and when I came in crying and shaking they guarded me. I phoned the police and my brother and when they came the dogs were OK, even though it was after the event, and I was worried they might go mad, but they were following my cues.
Looking back it's very interesting to see that when my loving gentle playful 'lick them to death' dogs saw me threatened they changed.
I still think if I wasn't there and someone broke in they would just lie back and await adoration!
