We've got a dog .....for two nights

Helping a friend so they can all go away for a break.

Omg...do they all go on like this?

Sniffing away!

Im not a dog person. I'm a cat person. Nothing against dogs. Just when do they sit down and relax.

If this was a cat she would be fast asleep by now.
She's sniffed and panted at every inch of the room . Aaaargh!

She came for a visit yesterday and two minutes of getting in my house she pooed on my lounge carpet.

How to stop this happening again.
Fortunately Dh has had plenty of dogs so I shall leave it in his care.

At least she's wagging her tail..so she can't be too upset.
She's a pampered pooch though.

The poor thing will be confused and missing the owners.
If the pooch is used to being pampered pamper it give it love and it'll settle down.
I would knock at your neighbours and tell them you've a 4 legged visitor for a few days and it's not long term, with any luck they'll be doggy people and all will be well Smile

It's raining lol.

I thought a dog might enhance mine and DH's lives. I think I'd be a nervous wreck in hours.

I don't think it likes me. Probably because I've tripped over it twice.

Went into the bathroom and said to DH
Oh not...it's pooed again.

I obviously need to go to specsavers as the offending poo ...was actually the woody end bit of a piece of asparagus that DH had dropped on the floor.

It hasn't brought any balls with it either!

Has it had a walk today at all? It'll be stressed probably for leaving its owners, panting is a stress sign.

Dh give it a five minute walk. Don't think DH likes getting wet either.

For a little well medium sized dog it has a heck of a bark on it.

It's whingeing a bit but wagging its tail so I reckon it's happy enough.

The crunch will be when bed time comes. Our bedroom is next to the kitchen. I hope its not going to whine all night.

( I think it sleeps on the owner's bed at home )

I would send DH out for a longer walk then relax with a glass of wine. If the dog whines in the night either try to ignore as it will probably settle after a bit or if you can't stand it (or you have neighbours close by) send DH to sleep on the settee with it. Two nights on the sofa won't kill him!

If the poor thing is used to sleeping on her owner's bed and she's had no preparation for staying over with you then it's highly likely she will whine/bark/cry if she's expected to spend the night alone in the kitchen.

Tail wagging doesn't necessarily mean happy, they can do it when they're upset, scared or worried as well.

It does sound like she's pretty stressed out. Was the visit yesterday the first time she's come to you?

It was raining here too when I suggested the walk but dh was walking our dog. Then she will go to sleep instead of romping round the place.

Yes it was lettuce although it has seen me quite a lot at her own house.

Looks like my neighbour is on nights but fortunately for him, it's going back to its own house in the morning as we are out for the day as I can imagine it would be barking its head off while he's trying to sleep. There's nothing worse.

Then we will pick it up and bring it back here.

It's mam's back on Friday

Chardonnay that made me giggle.

The dog sounds stressed to be honest, panting, whining and also defecating in the house.

It will need a proper walk, regardless of the weather - that should also help with the pooing in house.

It's clear you're not a dog person, as you keep saying It instead of he/she. That dog is probably the pride and joy of the owners and although you might feel a bit out of your depth, if you've agreed to look after and care for it, you might need to suck it up and be a dog person just for a couple days!

The dog WILL cry overnight if left in the kitchen. It's already showing signs of anxiety and if it's use to sleeping next to its owner it will be upset to be alone in a house it's not familiar with.

Good luck, I hope he/she settles for you and you get to see what a joy dogs can really be Smile

Its a she sorry.

At least it's not cocking it's leg up against my furniture like a he does.

Or chewing anything.

So much for my friend saying she sleeps all the time. Noooo! She whines a lot.

As dogs go...she's ok...except for the whining.

Will get it , I mean she... A ball tomorrow.

It's very quiet here. No street noises or anything . I think she can hear the birds outside.

DH has let her out on the patio. She's having a good bark . Soon be night time walkies.

Hopefully, when bedtime comes the fun won't start :-(

Hopefully she'll settle, she'll just be missing her owners.

Get her a good bone from the butchers tomorrow (not cooked) and that will keep her occupied tomorrow evening!

It's quite a big thing looking after someone's favourite pet.

My favourite cat died while we were in florida and my mums dog when they were in Vegas .

Eek .This ones only 6. Hopefully we will be ok there. She's got a harness so no chance of her slipping her lead.

Fingers crossed.

Thank god she's not a Doberman or those huge dog de Bordeaux , Newfoundlands, bull mastiffs, Weimaraner .....couldn't cope with that.

Especially slobbery dogs . I like them cat sized.

Ivedecided if she poos again...I'll let DH deal with it. No point worrying about it.

Hardly the end of the world.
Better to be relaxed about it.

Funny , it was me who wanted a dog.

I love dogs, have my own dogs but feel a but Hmm when I have someone else' s dog here, it's just strange.

My cats slept on the bed during the day but come bedtime they were all rounded up and put in the kitchen for the night.

The Persian with the Siamese blood in her made yowling an art form. No one would have got any peace with her in the room.

She sounded like you'd trapped her in the door.
