Decent wellies for dog walking.

Hi I'm looking for some decent wellies for walking my two during the winter.
I have a nice pair from Asda but they are too thin on the sole. I'd like a nice sturdy boot with a good grip on the bottom.
Does anyone wear some of those yard or riding boots that I've seen on the net that cost about £80? Are they any good and worth the money?

Aigles are amazing. It's like walking on air, honestly.

frenchiepup · 27/08/2015 18:39

I love my hunters, had them for about 2 years so far and are as good as new. So comfortable, i could wear them all day!

I walk my dog s in muck boots when it's wet. They are neoprene lined so keep your feet warm even when it's really cold and you can ride in them as well

I have Aigle Parcours. They are the best wellies I have ever had and, having owned dogs and horses for 30 years, I have tried a fair few!

ceres · 28/08/2015 21:31

Another vote for agile parcours.

Itsmine - the parcours are Apparantly designed as a walking welly, so very supportive like walking boots. They also come in a vario version for the heftier calf....I have the varios!

BeautifulBatman · 28/08/2015 21:50

Parcours. Very supportive. I get bad shin splints when I walk any reasonable distance but not with the Aigles.

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 28/08/2015 21:58

Watching with interest as DH had the same pair of Dunlop wellies for about 25 years but eventually the grip ran out. Has now been through 3 pairs in as many years as they keep splitting. Do Aigles have the silly little heel that Hunters do or is it a proper sole?

MummySparkle · 28/08/2015 22:03

My DP has much boots, they are awesome! I don't get on with hunters because I am too short for them, will be getting a pair of much boots this winter as my half-length fat-face ones m split before the winter was out (they were pretty though!!)

BeautifulBatman · 29/08/2015 08:47

Aigles do have a heel on them. But I would buy a pair of wellies without. Stomping around flat footed is not good for your feet.

I have Muddies. They are short but neoprene lined so really toasty.

BeautifulBatman · 29/08/2015 09:40

Itsmine yes, I would go down a size (or half).

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 29/08/2015 12:21

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'm going for the Parcours, there are some on Amazon for £52.

Do not waste time and money on Hunters. I have been through 3 pairs each only lasting 4/5 months each time. They split in several different places almost immediately. I did buy from Hunters direct and kept sending them back asking for a replacement but with the last pair they refused and gave me a refund instead!
I am off to find Parcours for £52.00 as this is much cheaper than Hunters!

Greenkit · 30/08/2015 13:52

I need a pair of wellies with wide calfs but cant find any anywhere?

Any ideas

TheCrowFromBelow · 30/08/2015 15:09

Another recommendation for Aigle parcours, I love mine, have had them for 3 years and they are still going strong, I'd say I use them daily for around 2/3 of the year. May get a neoprene lined pair for this winter. They are brilliant.

TheCrowFromBelow · 30/08/2015 15:14

greenkit Aigle are adjustable (I'm not on commission honest!)

mateysmum · 30/08/2015 15:24

Yet another Aigle Parcours here. They come with a 2 year guarantee. My first pair split after about 18 months and they have been replaced with no problem. So comfy and good grip in muddy fields.

mateysmum · 30/08/2015 15:25

Sorry- - should have specified --replaced free of charge by aigle.

Notoedike · 31/08/2015 22:07

Aigles here too, very comfortable and warm - mine are neoprene lined.

Greenkit · 06/09/2015 11:11

Thank you TheCrowFromBelow, i will take a look

LyndaNotLinda · 06/09/2015 20:16

I have Ilse Jacobsen Hornbaeks which are amazing. They're not cheap but they're handmade and are super-warm, super-comfortable, super-adjustable and last for absolutely years. They're very good looking too for wellies!
