it makes me happy we can't have children of our own and she really is our baby even if we do step back and treat her like an animal at times

Yes because i want to donate money to some CEO of unicef or fund another advert asking for more money I'll donate to those charities when the money actually goes to the right places

Eric got toys and a new bed on his birthday and he had steak and a fresh bone to eat. (Christmas Eve) He got more toys and a stocking at Christmas too. He's part of our family and so gets treated like the rest of them do really. We couldn't have bought him a cake or he'd have wanted to eat it though. I think it's quite sweet really.

My dcs like to give our dogs a new toy each on their birthday - or gotcha day for rescues, but other than that we don't do anything special. The present has to be wrapped up too, because the dogs love to shred the paper. This is all the dcs though, my role is merely to pay for the toy!

They get a present each at Christmas too.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me - speaking as someone who couldn't fit any clothes in their suitcase last time they travelled, 'cos I had too many dog treats packed :)

On my ddog first birthday I made dog pup cakes and threw a doggy party all family's dogs came. Dogs had great time running around together and we had a BBQ.
Dogs even got sausages and burgers too.
Ddog also had plenty of presents I even got him a card from moonpig.
He's my fur baby and part of the family he deserves a great birthday too.
So I don't think it's strange to spoil your dog and celebrate its birthday.

im having it made from pound cake with a light cream filling so she is allowed a tiny sliver of it and yes she is getting pet insurance and spaying in November too.

Op you can get dog cake recipes that are easy to make on Google that's what I did I made carrot based dog cupcakes with a frosting made from Greek yogurt and peanut butter ddog and friends loved them.

DeMontfords Delights make actual dog cakes made out of roast dinner etc. Some of the money goes to doggie charity. I buy my greyhound one every birthday and 'gotcha' day.

For his first Christmas with us I bought him two toys, a fleece coat and various treats. He always has his own pile under the tree.

He gets presents from all over the world too as he is fairly famous on Facebook. You should make her a page you sound madder than me and that takes some doing.

You're not being silly at all. It's your money and you can spend it how you like. You could argue forever that people should give their money to charity instead of spending it on absolutely anything non-essential.
