My waterproof from Millets let's water in and I get damp and cold!

What's good? I don't mind paying top dollar

for the long walks, i've got this

it's not let me down yet, and it's 18mths old, machine washable too

i wish it was a bit longer as i still get wet knees, but i need the shorter length for climbing banks etc

and i didn't pay full price for it, if you have a Trespass shop, they are almost always on offer

I have a Northface Arctic parka, which is really warm, machine washable and waterproof - so I normally just wipe it clean. It's probably too warm for some though.

I also have the Trespass one in the above link :) I also have fleece lined leggings, waterproof trousers and Berghaus walking boots, plus a waterproof hat, several big fleece scarves and riding gloves (I find these best as they have grippy bits all over them so good for keeping hold of leads).

That trespass one looks good. How padded is it? I currently in winter use a down jacket. But its not long and only shower proof.

If I got the trespass one would I need a fleece under it? Thinking of what size I'd need to get.....

the Trespass one is really warm too, i don't like loads of layers, and it's kept me warm and dry

had it even before i got a dog, perfect for walking to school and standing about in the playground

the sizes are pretty true, being slightly fitted helps

can I pass on my wet weather walking tip? Lambswool insoles in your boots. It may be drizzle misery on your face, but your feet are tucked up by a cosy log fire, eating cake. I've just put a fresh pair from Kiwi Sheepskins (the ones with thicker soles are worth it) into my wellies and, seriously, it's a moment of quiet joy in the day when my feet slide in there.

I've got one of these and it's brilliant. I've had it for over two years now and it's still going strong.

Footwear wise these are my boots of choice. My last pair survived four years of almost daily use in all weathers before they finally needed replacing. They're the comfiest things I've ever had on my feet.

Ohh, do you mind if I jump in and ask for footwear recommendations? I need something warm, waterproof, grippy and preferably mid calf height. I've been looking at Sorel and Timberland but they are a bit ££.

I swear by my waterproof hat which was cheap as chips but is so much more effective than a hood. Keeps the rain off my glasses too.

Fashion note - I don't wear the attractive chin strap except in the worst of gusts

I love my Muck boots, the first pair of wellies I've ever had that don't rub, I have an aussie hat which is waterproof and makes sure I can hear people/dogs/bikes coming up behind me.
My coat is a seasalt one but it's a bit too warm for this time of year so I wear my Trespass light waterproof.

I need a hat. Am going to order that one that CQ linked to! DH has asked for some wraparound sunglasses for Christmas which funnily enough are from Decathlon, so will order both at the same time.

HoundsBitch. Merrell Puffin boots are very good as long as its either not muddy or you're not bothered about them getting plastered in mud. Warm and good grip and kept my feet dry.

We've now moved and I walk over muddy fields rather than on paths and I've changed to Dunlop wellies but they're not as warm.

I have a longish merrell coat which looks like the trespass one, great as waterproof but not too hot and room to layer when it is cold (perfect if you have to stand around watching alot of sport as well...) and a pair of Aigle wellies which are fantastic, really comfortable, room for welly socks (or maybe some of those sheepskin insoles) and they're going strong after 2 years.

I've spent the last two weeks looking for something warm and waterproof and under £50...and there's a shop near me, so thanks.

Please can I slightly hijack My lovely Derwent muck boots need replacing (I walk in an odd way and have worn down the outside edge of each heel and they are letting in water). So I was looking at other muck boots which have less of a heel - such as the Tack ones - as then I won't have a heel to wear down. However, a thread on here said the Tack ones are not as good in the grip department although of course there was disagreement about this! I walk through a lot of flooded paths and slippery mud with the dog, so need a good grip. Which muck boots would you recommend? I've had my current pair for 4 years - discovered that from searching MN for reviews of muck boots!

I have a Trespass Alyssa coat. Can't
post a link but it's fab! Knee length, decent hood, fully waterproof and has a snug, zip out warm liner, so is 2 in 1. Was about £60 last year in store but is on eBay, amazon etc too. Bought cos I was sick of getting wet, especially knees and thighs, when out pushing the pushchair. Totally recommend. Comes in decent, plain colours too. Mine's plain black.

I really rate Decathlon stuff too

I have one of these and it is completely waterproof and very light weight. You need waterproof trousers for full protection though.

I went for a size bigger than I think I need as ideally I'd like to wear my heated bodywarmer underneath it, but worst case it should at least fit over me.

Eek - hope you like it now!! Mine has lasted three winters so far and still looks like new and doesn't leak.
