Chic canine kit - how to stay stylish on dog walks

As per the other thread, here's one on stylish dog-walk clothing - coats, boots, bags.

I'll start us off, what do people wear on dog walks when it is properly hot but still a bit muddy?

If it is proper slopdosh then I still pull my Hunters on. A little muddy then I do converse which can go in the washer. Not sure either qualify as stylish!

Being realistic I think Hunters and Cons are as stylish as we will all manage in the dog walking circumstances.

I wear my Le Chameau wellies year round. This is because (a) if it's warm, there are knee-high nettles at points along our usual walk; (b) if it's warm, there's a 50/50 chance it'll also still be muddy and (c) it really helps my mental justification of their cost, if I can divide them by 365 days/wear instead of about 200.

Takes a lot to peel my out of my Didrikson jacket, but when it gets really hot, I've got a handy photographer's vest for summer, with lots of pockets for poo bags, treats, phone, keys, etc.

I didn't realise you can wash converses. hmmm just added a bit more scope to my dog walking wardrobe - thanks!

I do quite like the 'fashion' for shorts and boots, so if muddy I am happy to wear my ankle boots or wellies with shorts, although admittedly I am getting on the mature-side for such a look - my DC will soon find me embarrassing!

I am going to head for a muddy spot today and check out what other dog walkers are wearing - I'll report back if I see anything fab!

My strategy so far has been to adopt a vibrant coloured sportswear look with brightly coloured trainers that go in the wash, work out leggings etc. Basically a much fatter version of a Sweaty Betty mannequin

It sort of works where I walk as there are a lot of people jogging and doing classes etc. but I would feel a bit of a title anywhere else!

Mine are mud and wet avoiders so I only wear wellies when the weather is horrendous/snow etc.

I don't normally notice but today I realised that all the other walkers on the park were in sensible jackets, jeans, wellies or walking boots whereas I sported sandals, a knee length skirt and a wafty long line sleeveless tee. Fortunately I had my enormo non stylish bum bag to mark me out as the crazy dog lady I really am

I think I'm going to have to get a bum bag for my keys and poo bags. Any better suggestions for something practical for a 3 mile brisk walk across fields. I can't be having a handbag/shoulder bag swinging off me.

I have a pair of ankle wellies for when it's muddy but not quite wading depth. Also love my MBT trainers for drier/slightly-squishy walking, but that's because they support my bad foot/ankle really well. Doubt either could be classed as stylish though.

I always feel envious of other dog walkers than can pull off skirts/dresses etc and look all summery, I just can't seem to do it for some reason. There was a family in our local park, with a gorgeous Lurcher, at the weekend, both Mum and daughter in lovely floaty maxi skirts - although Dad was there too, in shorts so he could run if needed - aaand then there was me in jeans, tshirt, gilet, flat cap and Merrel Taiga boots.

Viva various suggestions on the thread that launched this one about that very subject.

I had a floaty summer dress on this morning but put leggings on so I can get away with sticking my converse boots on. Regetting now though as ended up chatting and walking with another park regular and we were stood in the blazing sun for nearly 2 hours...think I'll have a glowing back later.

I bought two dicky bags - one for poo and one for keys/phone :D

I clip my keys on the dicky bag, poo bags and hand sanitiser are in the top of the dicky bag, and have a dicky bag treat thing which is clipped to the main bag. Whistle is on a lanyard.

I run with cmotdog, so then its two poo bags shoved in my shorts pocket, and hope that any poo stops are near a bin.

I have had a dicky bag in my basket at Amazon for over a year, are they actually worth it? Are they very light?

So glad it's not just me that keeps things in my Amazon basket for months on end.

I've considered buying one before, as I think they look like a good idea, but seem bulky and are quite pricey.

If you walk in places where there aren't bins, then they are fabulous - no smell at all and much nicer than swinging a plastic bag from your finger. They come in different sizes, and are very light - its like a neoprene cylinder and are really well made

A dicky bag? Is this for putting used pooh bags in? Because if it is I'm off to Google properly- I can't hold small DC's hand, a lead and pooh bag successfully at this point in time

Yes, Dicky bags let you carry full poo bags with no smell or risk of bumping it on things. So effective, we have left a full one in the car for a week and not noticed

I do think they're a great idea, but would need the largest size with my two dogs, not least of all because Lurcherboy is a double or sometimes even triple poo-er.

I tend to carry some scented nappy sacks and double or triple bag up using them, then then put it in my bag - not ideal, but it's not a common occurrence, as both mine tend to 'go' as soon as we arrive wherever we're walking which makes life a little easier.

Still very tempted though, just received a rather lovely amount of birthday money today and it's burning a hole in my pocket!

I really liked my Dock bag prior to raw feeding but now I don't find the poo smells anyway so it it goes in a pocket of my bag.

And now I've written it down I am quite appalled that I now don't think anything ofrom carrying poo around in a bag.

They look good. But I hate anything like bag straps around me in the heat.. Perhaps i could modify it to fit on my waist! I love the hippy festi waist things that moose linked on the other thread.
I would like a bum bag thing that isn't too big but definitely big enough to fit a water bottle in.. Someone linked an Amazon bumbag thing on the other thread- I'd love to know how much you can fit in that

I wear a cotton dress and wellies. Or shorts and wellies. I have a little Kipling bag that holds poo bags and treats

I like wellies.

Wellies are king.

Hold the phone- you can wash Converse in a machine? Really? That solves a whole lot of problems for me.
