What is the most important item that your dog has chewed ?

I was talking to my dd this afternoon ,Floraldog was in another room supposedly playing with his giraffe toy when we heard a tearing noise , thankfully I went straight away to see what had happened and found Floraldog just starting to munch his way through my sons GCSE and A level certificates ,that lazy son had left in an envelope by his laptop bag. We now have certificates with tooth marks / holes through them , fortunately the envelope took most of the damage !

When mobile phones were still fairly new, we were looking after a friend's while he was out of the country for a while......

What were you looking after ,the mobile or the dog ?

When I first meet DH he had a Dalmatian that decided I was a threat as he was spolit rotten and thought he was married to DH. The dog and I tolerated each other until I came into the livng room one day to find he had wildly mangled my (expensive) sunglasses and even managed to pierce the thick lenses with his canines. I was a new graduate and he managed to pick the only material thing I had of any real value and I used daily (we were in sunny climate). That poor dog regretted it immediately because from that day on he was in the dog house and taken to doggy school! No more softly, softly approach from me!

Not the dog but the cat - DH and I got married in New York and only had one copy of our marriage certificate and couldn't easily get another copy. I had the certificate and took it from my bag and put it on the chest of drawers intending to put it away but got distracted. A little while later walked into the room to find the cat standing on it about to start shredding.

The cert still has paw prints!

Looking after the mobile, our puppy ate it!

We have a beagle pup. He is literaly a machine. So far he has destroyed:

A brand new contract phone
Ds paediatricians letter
A wallet with £20 inside plus 2 bank cards
7 shoes
3 cushions
Too many of ds toys to count
My beautiful handed down coat that ill never beable to afford in my life :(

Tonight he ate my tea so is sitting in his crate looking sorry for himself.

When our two were pups they munched everything:
Two feather duvets
One phone and broadband box
Two mobiles
Countless socks and shoes
Any rubber backed door mats which they still to this day have a fetish for!
Remote control's
The best one though has to be the remote thermostat for the heating
Followed by peaches from the neighbours tree which ended in a very expensive vet Bill and countless operations.
Thankfully they have grown out of (most) of it!

One of my Labradors has destroyed a Kindle, a Nintendo DS, countless remote controls, two very expensive pairs of spectacles, my business chequebook, a very old vintage fur coat (it was in the stockroom at my shop), several skirting boards, a table, a car seatbelt, and all the TV and Sky wiring (twice).

She hasn't chewed anything for three months thank goodness - adolescence appears to be over!

If you met her in RL you would think what a well-behaved dog she is. She only chewed stuff when she was bored and hungry, so I guess it was my fault..

Oh and she also ate an entire family-sized tin of Quality Street, wrappers and all (to this day I have no idea how she got hold of the tin as it was IN A CUPBOARD) which resulted in an emergency trip to the vet and the canine equivalent of a stomach pump.

Blimey - i don't know where to start.

My rottie ate a cheque for 15k once - thank god the sender re-issued! He had never chewed anything before. Same dog ate the sunday joint once too.

None of my other dogs have chewed apart from my JRT little orange bastard he has chewed:-
Three pairs of crocs
The lining from a pair of Fly London boots
Two mobile phone chargers
A lap top cable.
A pair of week old glasses (designer and expensive )
The rug in the front room
Many of DD's toys
The sleeves on several of my jumpers (while im wearing them)
but i think the show stealer has to be MY FUCKING BED!

Crikey, makes me feel better about my beloved Mulberry purse that I can't afford to replace & still miss 5 years later - but now I know it could be a lot worse!!

My rescue Grey is fairly new and hasn't chewed up anything so far bar my dog walking hat, my gran gave it to me for Christmas and I really liked it.

However, my Labrador that we had when I lived at home with my parents was a bastard for chewing. He ate shoes, toys, clothes and about 2/3rds of a foam sofa bed. The pinnacle of his achievements was chewing up my parents spending money for a holiday one year......about £300 of old style big tenners and twenties.

I had a collie that reduced the passenger seat in my van to a metal frame and a giant fluffy mass of fabric and foam rubber in the space of about ten minutes! Took the frame out and put in a dog bed and he seemed happy with that. Never touched the driver seat. Little monkey

I had a paddington bear I'd had since the day I was born... I got it out of the cupboard to put in my new DD's room..

An hour later I went upstairs and there was a little black boot on the landing. Bear chewed to pieces. I've never cried so much over a material thing!!

worse things my first ever dog chewed was two remote controls, through the plaster in the wall from the kitchen to the living room and a two seater sofa...came home to a living room covered in foam and a huge hole in the seat of the sofa! Same dog also managed to jump through the living room window then sat on doorstep waiting to come in and then had to be rushed to vets for emergency stiches in her leg!
Luckily next two dogs were not so bad, my old JRT never ate a thing apart from chewing the edge of her plastic bed, and my basenji, another oldie at 15 has only just stopped shredding anything in his bed and in the early days chewed the corners of a couple of cushions.

my previous dog chewed up my standard grade results as they were posted through the letterbox, i had to contact the school to find out my results as couldnt even piece them together

Friend's dog got his wife's Christian liboutin shoes. Respect.

Mine ate the back off my walking boot, and the velcro strap off one of DS's shoes.

A previous pup had a penchant for legs of chairs and tables, and a patch of the wall. Still have the marks on the wall and furniture (really should patch the wall) - dog long gone sadly (got run over at 8 months old - lesson don't argue with a tractor :()

My brother's old dog used to eat the shoes laces out of the shoes of the person who left him last (very selective). He also ate the handbrake handle when left in the car, as well as chewing through a bottle of water on the drivers seat (and then moving to sleep on the passenger seat ). That dog had attidude !

At school I remember a teacher handing out books after homework. She looked shamefaced and at the end admitted her cat had been sick over one of them - so she couldn't give that one back

The small plastic widget from HSBC - without which it is impossible to access online banking.

I wasn't nearly as cross with the puppy as I was with the wet behind the ears, pompous and opinionated juvenile who answered my call to the bank call centre! I actually got a lecture on keeping the widget in a safe place, away from the dog.
After explaining that, if I had known that the puppy would choose that specific letter as the first item of post she had ever chosen to chew, I would have arranged for installation of an external mailbox prior to delivery ......he asked if I now had one fitted!! Advising that I thought calling the bank was a higher priority than going shopping for a mailbox resulted in a long sigh.
