I was talking to my dd this afternoon ,Floraldog was in another room supposedly playing with his giraffe toy when we heard a tearing noise , thankfully I went straight away to see what had happened and found Floraldog just starting to munch his way through my sons GCSE and A level certificates ,that lazy son had left in an envelope by his laptop bag. We now have certificates with tooth marks / holes through them , fortunately the envelope took most of the damage !

Oh - plus a Schnauzer, many years ago, who ate an entire box of Black Magic. Not a major loss in itself (although major worry about health)
but he then vomited repeatedly, in every room of the house.

Lesson: Black Magic + canine gastric juice = indelible stains. Everywhere!

When I was a child our Cocker spaniel ate my Mothers false teeth. It was a plate with three teeth on so not the full set IYKWIM. DM had taken it out as it was rubbing, put it on a tissue on the arm of her chair and nodded off.

I came in from school, DM woke up, reached for her teeth to find they had gone. Massive search was carried out. I found them, well the few pink plastic bits that were left, under the dining table with the dog. I know I shouldn't have laughed but it was too much. Every time I see that advert for doggy dentures it cracks me up. The best place to keep your teeth is in your mouth Grin

Main losses

Leather sofa, both arms, 1 seat cushion.
Dining chair cushion
2 laptop chargers
Every sock that is left anywhere, ever.
Ds1 phone
Photographs
2 dog beds
1 blanket
1 purse containing £45
Numerous amounts of post.

Oh my god how did i forget this one?

Our bed was knackered so we bought a lovely new bed with a beautiful Tempur mattress.
Some bright spark (yes, ds1 that would be you) came home from school and forgot the shut the stair gate on his way downstairs, sat down, watched tv.
It didnt enter his head to think "oh I wonder where LittleDog has gone, I haven't seen him for ages"
He was upstairs ripping chunks out of my brand new mattress.

My lovely silver wedge sandals that I'd only worn twice. DH's glasses, telephone cable, crocs. When he was very small he used to rip all the mail that came through the letterbox.

VivaLeBeaver · 30/01/2014 17:14

Do dogs get better about not chewing as they get older?

Floralnomad · 30/01/2014 17:24

My mums didn't improve ,he had a penchant for kitchen cupboards and particularly oven housings and he chewed them through his entire life ,she used to keep a spare in the garage !

And here's me thinking it was bad that one of my Skyes ate a hole in the wall of the hall Hmm

WeAllHaveWings · 30/01/2014 21:24

Hmm hard one, so many things to choose from........either the carpet which he pulled up at the door and shredded, or.........the sofa which he not only shredded the cover beyond repair but also tore the foam inside into squillions of pieces.

TheChimpParadox · 30/01/2014 21:42

Drivers seat belt !

DH took her to DS football match - dogs werenot allowed - he walked her - put her back in car after 20 mins damage was done .

needastrongone · 31/01/2014 15:41

Sorry but the false teeth one has really made me giggle Smile

KringleCandleLover · 31/01/2014 15:54

When my dear departed rottie was a pup, he ate the back door. Literally made a catflap out of the hardwood, big enough for his head to fit thru.

The same week, he ate my kitchen wall, from skirting board to lightswitch level. There was not 1 jot of plaster left. He then decided to eat the bottom 3 stairs(including carpet) and pulled out all of the buttons on the washing machine.

I cried lots that week.

This year, my current baby has eaten 2 police issue Blackberrys, and 2 pairs of my glasses. Her mouth is only little.

The dogs I co-parent have consumed/annihilated:
A passport
A 2seater wicker sofa
A door
Skirting boards.

Clearly they're fans of wood based products.

bex2011 · 01/02/2014 18:17

Two feather duvets
countless duvet covers
sleeping bag
The back of the back seat of the car
lots of toys
....and a leather sofa!

Today my lovely dog chewed through the wires to my fish tank ( wires that lead to the light in the tank ), luckily he was not electrocuted, he also pulled up a small section of the laminate flooring ( dh was not happy ).

LottieJenkins · 01/02/2014 20:55

Bumbledog has chewed a mobile phone, two extending dog leads and the first time I left him alone in the house three days after I got him, he got the bottle of cooking oil off the worktop and dumped it on my wool rug! Last Saturday was the scariest when he was playing with an open safety pin! I got it away from him just in the nick of time!!!

RVPisnomore · 06/02/2014 20:36

My golden retriever chewed a MacBook (DH's) when he was a puppy! Let's just say DH has never gotten over it!
