Pup attacked :(

My gorgeous little man (8 month old cocker) was attacked by 4 dogs in our local field today.
He wasn't bleeding anywhere even though he was really bitten. I took him straight to the vet who checked him all over, his heart rate and temp was fine, she found a small graze, but said he was badly bruised as he was very uncomfortable when she touched him, she gave him a pain killer and a anti biotic.

This afternoon had been dreadful, he will hardly walk, he is just looking at the floor, won't eat treats, shaking really badly, I feel like a terrible mum, I promised him I would never allow anything to happen to him and I did.
He's currently a shadow of his usual self, I just want to cry.

What can I d to help him, how long does bruising pain last in dogs? When will he get his bounce back?
Will he always be traumatised by this?

Thank you :(

I'm so sorry this has happened. Dogs are more than pets and I understand how painful this is for you right now. xxx

Oh no, that is so very sad, my condolences Karbea. I have hugged mine ten times the usual amount tonight. Nearly lost her once and of course, having lost others, know the pain only too well. I have children and my dog is truly one of them for me.

Hugs to you, xxx

I am so very sad to read that this had such a sad outcome. My thoughts are with you. Dogs can touch our hearts just as much as any human we love. They become part of our family. I know how much you'll be hurting. Xxx

Dear karbea, I answered your post when I first saw it, and today have checked in to see how your little un is doing. I am very sad to hear what has happened, it's actually unbelievable. My heart goes out to you as you did all you could to help him. You could never have predicted what has happened, so never feel there was anything you could have done. The other dog owners should somehow be made aware of what this vile dog attack resulted in, maybe speak to local authority or police, but if no joy, then post a pic of your pup and put it on nearby tree/lamp post stating the time and date of what happened so that other dog owners are aware of potential problems. Obviously, you are grieving now, so only do this when and if you want too. Once again, big hug to you. Xx
