Pointy hounds include-
Greyhounds (Grunds)
Whippets (Whippys)
Lurchers
Italian Greyhounds (Iggys)
Salukis
Afghans
And any others I have forgotten. If you are a new pointy hound owner, an old and experienced owner or looking into getting one of these fabulous creatures, come and have a seat (that's not taken up with a hound ).

Come The Day
Come the day I take that final bend,
Can I count on you to be my friend?
To see I?m treated just and fair,
It means so much to know you care.

For, what the future holds in store,
Now that I can race no more,
Should be addressed for every hound,
Who parts the punter from his pound.

Tell them I don?t ask for much,
A kindly word, a gentle touch,
Somewhere warm to lay my head,
A meal each day to keep me fed,
Not just life- but quality,
This is how it ought to be.

Do not see me swept away,
I long to live another day,
With peace of mind, tranquillity,
And those who care surrounding me,
So tell them all- you have that choice,
I beg of you to be my voice.

Cinammon Scruples have a gorgeous 8mo pup called Ziggy who has become reavailable. He is totes to die for. Could be ideal for you?

It was definitely the cold waking Pip in the night. Reinstated his hotwater bottle and started tucking him in and he started sleeping through again straight away.

We've bought him a knitted jumper for the time being, as it has plenty of stretch and isn't full length anyway so it won't matter as much if it ends up getting shorter and shorter on his back as he grows.

I'm going to have a go at making a couple of no-sew fleece housecoats until his growth slows down a bit, if I can ever make a decision about which fleece to buy. Confused

Dh and the boys made me buy this one in a bigger size, as they're all big Beano fans.]] Hmm Grin

I wasn't at all convinced it would suit him, but it arrived this morning and I have to say, he looks great it in! Grin Also, within minutes of putting it on him he curled up and went to sleep, so I assume it feels a bit like being cuddled. Smile

I saw him on fb but can't see him on the website so don't know if he's cat safe.

We are going to see the whippet x today, its the lady who had Brodie as well so we can ask about his fear of men and she also has some puppies. Going to ask lots of questions and also seriously considering Jangles assuming he's still free once we've decided what to do today. It's only an hours drive today rather than the 4hrs to visit Tess.

Good luck today cinnamon. Hope the visit helps you get a clear idea of which way you want to go.

Sorry x post moosemama, cute jumper :) glad he's sleeping through again!

Have put a photo up of Pip in his new Jumper. Unfortunately it's not the best picture, because he kept following dh and getting too close to the camera. Really need a side view to get the full effect, but will have to sneak up on him to get that shot. Grin

(Had to turn the collar back because he kept trying to chew it. Hmm

Moose, he looks adorable. Is he getting scruffy chops?

Report
moosemama · 14/09/2013 13:53

He's always been a bit scruffy Peanut, but you see it more head on in photos than when you get a side view.

He has a really cute fan of fur that spikes up across his nose and in front of his eyes, little tufts of fur all around the edges of his ears and a mini-beard. His coat is getting longer by the week and is fawn with a beautiful fine layer of silver/grey/blue long hairs overlying it.

Now I'm even more confused, Lola is the whippet x and she's lovely, really like a mini version of peanut. They played together and seemed quite happy, ds1 loved her BUT she hasn't been cat tested the lady thinks judging by her temperament and how she is with her chickens she'll be fine but we don't know and she gets travel sick :(

The puppies are gorgeous of course! Mum is bedlington whippet x and I would have happily taken her home Grin she's a tufty brindle. Dad is 3/4 whippet 1/4 greyhound and the three pups she has left are black and white. They are 5 weeks but she's advertising them next weekend and she's keeping one of the bitches. She recommended the boy as he's more laid back than the girls.

Oh crikey - spoiled for choice! Grin

You can have Pip if you like. I've come down with dd's virus today and the combination of me being out of action for brain stimulation training sessions and him not being allowed out for walks to burn off some energy yet means I have one very norty boy on my hands. He's on a mission to cause as much puppy style mayhem as he can possibly muster and dh is, as usual, working on the campervan, so I'm having to drag my weary backside off the sofa to distract and redirect the little darling every other minute. Hmm

Yes, I think dh managed to capture his 'butter wouldn't melt' look at the same time as hinting at the real 'menace' beneath. Grin

Moose, mistlehound has the fan of hair in front of her eyes, and slight mouth whiskers... remarkably similarly shaped head too.

We went to the LL event today - mistlehound came first in the 425m for under 23" (there were only 2 of them but she did run well), 3rd rough bitch under 23" (there were only 3 of them... the judge said she needed to lose some weight) 2nd for waggiest tail (in fact, she had the waggiest lurcher tail in the class) and 1st with DS for child handler - she did look very at ease with him and was clearly doing what he was asking - and he managed to do fairly well in that, so it was well deserved. SHe slept all the way home, and having had a quick skip down the garden and a bit of supper she's now fast asleep.

The travel sickness would be an issue for me. Is the mum up for rehoming?

Report

Well done Mistlehound and MiniMistle! Grin

Sounds great mistlethrush!

Lola she lives with chickens and has never worked and played with the boys and peanut so nicely. And came when dh called unlike peanut! She said travel sickness can be worked on?

No mum is the ladies pet, she rescues regularly mostly from traveller sites she said but she bred this litter specifically because she wanted a pup with that parentage.

Lola is pretty! Sounds ideal for you assuming a cat test goes well. Are you tempted?

Report
cinnamongreyhound · 14/09/2013 20:00

We are going to have her for the weekend next week and see how she goes. She's put her on LL and fb as back up in case she's not manageable with the cats. Recommended a crate for her to start with.

moosemama · 14/09/2013 20:25

Oh yes, what a pretty face. Smile

How exciting a trial run! Grin

I'll be keeping everything crossed for you that she's cat friendly.

Cinnamon - we had a dog that got awful travel sickness - tried all the vet remedies (this was when I was 5 so a few years ago now) and she ended up having the same as I had (Phenergan?) which tasted absolutely vile - I remember getting 1/2 a tsp and she had 2 ... and it cured us both of being sick (I still get queasy at times even now but am not actually sick).

There is a FB group called Dogs in Foster throughout the UK - three stunning lurcher pups available. Scruffy wotsits they are too.

Ps I completed a Scruples application form.

Then bottled it.

Report

Those three are in foster for Many Tears Peanut, someone pointed them out to me the other day.

Gorgeous aren't they.

Why did you bottle it? Was it a generic application or for a specific dog?

Report
PeanutPatty · 14/09/2013 21:59

They are adorable! Utterly utterly adorable.

Generic application. Bottled cos we are on holiday shortly mainly but also cos I don't think we'd be selected to adopt.
