We get wet, monster puppy isn't impressed, lol.

Rikalaily · 26/11/2012 08:09

Hubby walks the dog, he comes back cold and wet, I stay nice warm and dry Grin

MothershipG · 26/11/2012 08:10

Wear coats, all of us, but we don't like it Sad bloomin' miserable weather!

2blessed2bstressed · 26/11/2012 08:12

Dog1 doesn't mind the rain, so I make ds2 take him for good long walk. Dog2 hates it - but is chihuahua puppy, so fair enough! I take him round the block if its bad weather, and he has coat to wear, so he doesn't get too cold. Ds2 refuses to take him anyway, on grounds of coat being ridiculous Grin

MothershipG · 26/11/2012 08:17

It's actually quite hard to find sensible coats for small dogs 2blessed Smile mine have colour coded fleece coats - I put a pic in my profile...

MerryCunnyFuntingChristmas · 26/11/2012 08:55

Go out and get wet! My toddler, my dog and myself don't melt in the rain Wink

I have a pair of tracksuit bottoms left on the radiator downstairs so when I come in I strip the dog off, take my coat off, peel off my jeans and boots then put on toastie warm trackies!

OatyBeatie · 26/11/2012 09:06

We go out in all weathers. Once we went through floods so bad that my dog was swimming not walking. There was a very lost-looking mole there whose home had been flooded. Hope he had insurance.

doglover · 26/11/2012 09:14

Just get wet!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 26/11/2012 09:17

Up until yesterday, I was just chucking on my old dog walking gear and walking through muddy woods/fields anyway. But yesterday, the lake had claimed the woods and the fields were flooded. Not a problem in itself, but a bit iffy when you consider the broken glass/old cans which might well be lurking in the murky water. Having already taken Jas to the vet twice this year with badly cut pads due to some arsehole deliberately breaking green glass on grass Angry, today I decided to stick to lead walks. He's had 45 mins this morning and will get the same this afternoon, but I feel guilty about it. I have a dog that lives to run.

Shinyshoes1 · 26/11/2012 09:18

I don't walk him that day . I just let him out in the back garden for him to do his business . I hate being cold and wet

It won't hurt the dog to have a lazy day once in a while anyway

D0oinMeCleanin · 26/11/2012 09:18

Puppy and Devil Dog will walk together this morning and slide around in the mud joyfully while I mourn my freshly mopped floors.

Whippy is the sensible one who will stay in bed, nice and snuggly because she hates the rain until tonight when I make her go on her long walk on the beach because I am eevil (mwhahahaha) then she will cower between me and my dad with her tail between her legs with the flying whippet who also hates the rain.

PseudoBadger · 26/11/2012 09:20

We get wet and muddy. Dogs get hosed off outside then stay in the utility room until they're dry.

PersonalClown · 26/11/2012 09:21

Bwahahahahaha! Walking? In this weather??
I have a Staff that gives me the most patronising look if I so much as hint at a walk. This is a dog that tiptoes in the garden if it's ever so slightly wet.

Definitely a fair weather dog.

Doodle don't care either way.

Fenton · 26/11/2012 09:23

Obviously good wellies are a must and get a really good wet weather coat, - one of those with a shoulder cape (I know they are not a good look but they do keep you dry).

I find that wearing a good cap keeps it nicely out of my face - I hate wearing hoods, - it makes me feel quite vulnerable because you can't see what's going on around you, or really hear anything properly.

Have plenty of old towels by the doors really for drying paws.

Don't carpet your house, ever.

Wink
2blessed2bstressed · 26/11/2012 09:28

Mothership. But I love the ridiculous coats! Half the fun of having a chihuahua Grin

2blessed2bstressed · 26/11/2012 09:30

And have just looked at your profile, your dogs are gorgeous! What breed are they? Look a little like my cairn terrier - although he is wheaten

PseudoBadger · 26/11/2012 09:30

Fenton I hate wearing hoods on my 5am walk as i feel so vulnerable so often get soaking wet, I do have a sealskinz hat which I wear sometimes.

NeedabreaknotabloodyKitKat · 26/11/2012 09:31

Dog gets walked because he needs the exercise, but is such a massive mud sponge he gets locked in the utility forever to dry off, which makes him really hyper so he needs more exercise.... Argh. Bloody hate winter.

Pickles77 · 26/11/2012 09:32

Picklesdog refuses point blank to go anywhere.
I just put his nice tweed coat on and he is hiding under the bed where I can't reach him shaking!
It is all rather pathetic, I need to walk my only chance for a sneaking smoke
Also he is a Terrier- he can't catch mice and be can't go out in rain, wind, cold or snow.
I got him as he was meant to be a hardy breed

kiwigirl42 · 26/11/2012 09:32

We've got a labrador who will go out in anything, wetter the better. If its actively pouring down with rain I send DH. He soon gets over it.

2muchxmaspud · 26/11/2012 09:33

Garden job for the dogs in weather like this, they are lazy dogs anyway... Old dog has to be physically pushed out the door even then she sits on the step till she realises she won't be allowed in untill she has done something.

D0oinMeCleanin · 26/11/2012 09:34

A wipe clean house is the way forward Needabreak, laminate flooring (not wooden because you will cry when it gets scratched) and pleather furniture (not leather because you will cry when it gets scratched)

Wait until you can no longer tell what colour things are supposed to be and then mop the entire house including the furniture. We have bleachable paint on the walls too.

NeedabreaknotabloodyKitKat · 26/11/2012 09:37

Dooin, it's not far off but I also have 2 crawlers so there's a limit to how much mud I let them ingest (it's quite a high limit mind you!)

SpicyPear · 26/11/2012 09:45

SpicyDog point blank refuses to walk in the rain, will actually drag me home or back to the car if it starts up when we're out. SpicyPup seems unconcerned by torrential rain, even sitting down in the middle of the lawn to munch on a leaf in it. So it's wellies, just ordered a Didriksons coat and a microfibre towel by the door for when we get back Sad
