I had my name down with a breeder for a boy in August but she only had bitches and two boys in litter, I was 3rd on waiting list....Then I was waiting on a breeder who had had a pup returned after a few weeks as the owners 'could not commit' Confused, I mean wtf! Then after waiting a few weeks she decided pup would need an experienced owner. Ihave spent al my time since trawling rescue sites and applying for dogs that I want without success and looking for a new breeder with a pup ready NOW. It is totally exasperating. A breeder in Lewes had a liter with no yellow dogs. it is totally pissing me off tbh. I can see why people (of lesser characther Wink) resort to byb's and unethical breeders! I won;tdo that obvs but I am frustrated! Rant over

WTFwasthat · 26/10/2012 12:11

well what a morning! The homecheck was fine but I expressed my concern about going ot wales to meet Porridge as I will nly go by train and not car etc. the homechecker was really nice but said i should maybe look at rescues nearer to home etc. Then she calls back adn has offered pick porridge up from Wales, drive to the next town along from us and foster him there!!! I mean, talk about moving mountains! then MT rang me and offered this idea up and said they do not do this kind of thing and if there is any doubt in their minds they will keep the dog as a foster down this way. Sooooo we should be meeting Porridge on Sunday or Monday! Grin Now I am nervous, excited, terrified, happy, overwhelmed and so on!! What have we let ourselves in for!!!! GrinShock

I sometimes think it is worse if you have a lot of time to plan , we decided to get a dog on a Thursday and got a 14/16 week old pup from Battersea on the following Sunday . It came as quite a shock when they said just take him , we'd expected a home check etc. I rang my mum from the car and said to bring me bowls , beds , etc and that was that . It's been fine he is the most perfect family pet and I really wouldn't be without him , I can honestly say that there has not been a single moment when I have regretted getting him .

HoneyDragon · 26/10/2012 13:02

Agree with Floral. My old girl passed away on a Wednesday. Due to a quirk of fate I was home checked and had a puppy on the Sunday!

WTFwasthat · 26/10/2012 15:09

blimey! yes i am feeling decidedly anxious now and wondering if i have made a mistake! I know I haven't but having waited and thought about it for so bloomin long now that it is here I feel like it's all a rush - how stupid is that Confused

Gotta think of a great name now, I was gonna call him Hudson (after my dearly departed Dad, but he was born in August so i could call him Leo. Or I'm thinking I quite like Porridge too Smile

Dyson.

Especially if he has the notorious stomach on legs lab trait :o

HoneyDragon · 26/10/2012 18:11

I like Hudson Smile

Incidentially I am now on stage 3 of puppy ownership

This stage is known as

WHY? Why? You BASTARD, why?
[sobbing is an additional option]
[also laughing hysterically*]

However by this time they have used their powers of mind control to love then unconditionally Hmm

*for example when they discover they can get up the climbing frame. But not down Grin
Wink

HoneyDragon · 26/10/2012 18:12

So you love them

Terrible typing was that

LadyTurmoil · 26/10/2012 18:31

Hudson is a great name but I like Porridge too, depends what you're more comfortable shouting when you're at the park and he won't come back!!! It will be hard work and you'll need to keep hawk eyes on him while he chew up plastic flowerpots but he'll be lovely as well!

TheCunnyFuntOfEastwick · 26/10/2012 18:56

or Vax?
