Desperately worried

I posted here a few weeks ago about my beautiful Cavalier KC Spaniel who sadly passed away. She had several tumours and had to be PTS.

DH has just taken our other KC to the emergency vet. He was woken by our boy moaning and thrashing about. I didn't hear this so DH woke me.
Mr C (our boy) seemed to be struggling to breathe & his eyes were unfocussed. He has been to vets this week with suspected kennel cough and on anti-bs for an infection. Seemed to be perking up today but slow on his walk tonight. He has a moderate heart murmur but vet seemed to think this was ok.

Just didn't know what to do. Stroked his head & ears while DH desperately tried to call a 24 hr vet. If I stopped stroking him he moaned. I am so worried and so so sad. It's 2.30am and DH has just taken him. I am waiting for a terrible phone call.

It's heartbreaking. Mr C is only 6 yrs old. I adore him. Sad

Don;t know why I'm posting really other than to tell someone who understands. I love that dog and my heart is breaking.

I'm so sorry to hear this. He's in good hands with the vet and he's lucky to have such loving owners to take him right away. Take care. I'll be thinking of you.

theluckiest - I do hope all turned out well for your dog. Thinking of you

so sorry that Mr C is poorly. Fingers, toes and paws crossed here, hoping that he is ok.

Something similar happened to one of our dogs a long time ago, it was like a sort of mini stroke, but he needed stroking and my DH to be next to him. Have to say he went on for years after being fine.

Bad news I'm afraid. My beautiful boy passed away at 4.30 this morning,

Such a shock. I'm numb. DH got him to the vet (who was lovely) and they gave him oxygen. Got him comfortable and admitted him for tests. DH got back at 3.30am (and £400 lighter! Shock)

His phone went an hour later. Vet had gone to get his x-rays and when she returned Mr C had gone. X ray showed his lungs were full of fluid.

My poor poor boy. He seemed to be getting better yesterday & back to his cheeky, loving self. Dont know what happened.

I am so so sad that he was on his own. Although at least it was relatively quick and the vet was trying to help him. I just wish I could have carried on stroking his head as it seemed to soothe him. I just keep thinking how frightened he must have been.

Can't stop crying. He was my boy.

I am so sorry for your losses. I can only imagine how sad you feel. I have a kc cross dog here and, as she was snoring this morning I thought for a minute how devastated I'd be if anything happened to her. KCs have such beautiful faces and the sweetest dispositions. I'm sending un-mnish hugs.

LovelyMuffins · 25/08/2012 12:54

Oh how awful, you poor poor dears.
I know CKCS have bad health problems and they're such pretty loving little dogs. Cry all you need. Sending sad comforting vibes.

Happydaze · 27/08/2012 10:04

The luckiest . . .

Thanks

We lost our basset yesterday, road accident, so know exactly how you are feeling Sad

Hope you are finding comfort where you can, I am in tears today for you, for me, for all of us who love our dogs so much and miss them terribly

theluckiest · 27/08/2012 16:02

Thank you for your kind messages. They have been very comforting. Feeling better today. Can think and talk about him without sobbing.

Spent most of Saturday wandering about not knowing where to put myself. My eyes were so sore and swollen from crying.

The house just feels wrong without him. There was a black & white tea towel on top of the washing basket. I caught it out the corner of my eye and was just about to shoo him off it when I remembered....

Am so so sorry to hear about your basset Happydaze. They are such an important part of our lives. My thoughts and tears are for you too. What an awful shock.

Had a call from the vets...Mr C is coming home tomorrow. Our other KC Daisy died 2 months ago and we hadn't got round (or couldn't face) spreading her ashes yet. There's a beautiful spot nearby with a stream that they both loved. We're going to take them for a last walk and they will stay together.

So sad.
