We are thinking about getting a dog but im not sure where would be best for him to sleep, its either going be in the kitchen or our bedroom. Where does your dog sleep and where do you think is best, im thinking he may settle better in our room but longterm he may be better off going in the kitchen.
I haven't even got him yet and im stressing about where he will sleep! Smile

BabyRabbits has a point. Genetically dogs are still fairly similar to wolves, just as we are to gorillas etc, so it makes sense they'd behave in a similar way.

I'd explain in more detail but I am busy organising with the other females in our social group who is going to mate with the alpha tonight. I've spent all day eating lice off of him, so clearly it's my turn.

My Patterdale started off in a crate, in the kitchen. At 8 months I dropped the crate and put the bed in it's place. He's fine there and knows when it's bed time.

If DH's works away he sleeps in my bed Blush

His bed is in the kitchen but during the night he plonks himself anywhere. I only usually let him on the bed during the weekend because I end up with no quilt and his farts could be used as a biological weapon. The most irritating thing is the very noisy slurping while he washes himself.

When dc were babies the dog wasn't allowed in any bedrooms so slept happily in bed in living room. As dc are older, dog has run of house now and sleeps on a cushion next to our bed. She isn't allowed on furniture so doesn't attempt to get onto our bed. However, ds has a midi bunk bed with an additional mattress on the floor underneath. He now choses to sleep on the floor mattress and encourages the dog onto his bed. I have caught the dog on his bed during the day and tbh haven't got the heart to shoo her off as she looks so comfy!!!
