We want a dog. A puppy really. We have 3 young DC (6,3,1).

We don't want to spend £500 + on a dog when rescue homes are overflowing.

We're worried about risks with a rescue dog.

We need some advice, please?!

willow good god no, he was out a few times for a walk about and a couple of wees including one before he went to bed at around 10.30. But maybe he needed to actually go for a walk to make a poo, maybe he is used to a walk last thing before bed. We have a different approach for tonight. He is going for a walk shortly, then round the block before bed. If he barks, I will do as dog warden suggested. A quick, firm but not shouty 'No' then leave him. I will spray dap before bed time and cover crate. What do you think?

Why did you not put the collar on for 16 hours, sorry I didn't understand that Confused do I just keep it on for a short while and then remove?

He is not on the sofa at all, he lies on a mat we have for him and was quiet as a mouse there.

He is a lovely handsome mongrel, terrier, as in jack russell, plus goodness knows what.

No you keep the collar on, I took if off to bath her & didn't get round to putting it back on. We took her for a walk & than couldn't get home to put it back on quick enough !

You might find he settles better with the crate covered ?

I am going to try that tonight, and spray some dap on the blanket and in his crate and vet bed. I will get the collar tomorrow. Is it everyone's end aim to get rid of the crate, and if so maybe he had already got rid of it in his original home, or was just trained to be clean in the house. I think we will try the crate again tonight and if there is barking, I will say a firm NO. If I come down to poo in the morning again, maybe I should leave free run of the kitchen on Wednesday night.
