Dog needs a walk - still pissing down - I don't mind but two DS' looking at me very reluctantly - dog will love it and park will be empty !

Digging out all the waterproofs !

Anyone been out ?

Haven't been out today - and probably won't.
Dog has been out for a very hasty wee this morning and shows no sign of wanting to go for a walk. Currently upside down on his bed, feet in the air, snoring next to the radiator.

He would probably look willing if I put my boots on, but I think we'll give it a miss today. :)

D0oinMeCleanin · 03/01/2012 15:40

I've walked one. The hounds got to stay at home by the radiator, it's bad enough convincing them to wee outside when it's like this, let alone go for a walk. They show me up with their howling and whimpering. I get lots of these Hmm looks. It's really not worth it.

Dh can take them tonight once/if the pissing rain and howling winds have gone.

FiveHoursSleep · 03/01/2012 15:44

I walked 4 kids and two dogs in absolutely torrential rain and wind at 11 am this morning. The kids were rugged up and happy enough in their waterproofs. the collie cross enjoyed it and The Lurcher tried to jump back in the car!
I wish I had left it for an hour or two as it did calm down for a while after lunch. If I could have not gone out, I would have!

coffeeinbed · 03/01/2012 15:46

Three times.
he gets walked whatever the weather.

fatcaaah · 03/01/2012 15:46

There was a lovely break in the weather here about an hour ago so me, 2yo ds and our lab spent a lovely hour jumping in muddy puddles in the woods.

My 3 boring ds's stayed in the warm

Wind and rain back now. Have just driven ds2 on his paper round

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 03/01/2012 15:47

Ive been out with my 2 hooligans today. It was so windy I thought I was going to do a Mary Poppins. Both dogs were naughty, 1 wouldnt run for the ball, the other stole both balls and lay down. But the run they got took the 'edge' off them and they are quite happy indoors now with a chew each.

My wee Jack Russell has been looking expectantly at me every time I move today. I am feeling the guilt!
But cannot face togging up myself / the kids so she can wait till tomorrow.....

OracleInaCoracle · 03/01/2012 15:55

JRTX here. and Im not entirely sure we werent swizzled. he does NOT want to go out. even if he needs to, especially today. he is currently snoring on my bloody cardigan and shows no sign of wanting to move.

TerraNotSoFirma · 03/01/2012 15:58

My GSD hates the wind and will dash out for a pee then straight back to cosy up by the radiator, She is 7 soon and has lost interest in her walks, But as soon as there is a bit of snow on the ground she is like a puppy again.

mateysmum · 03/01/2012 16:01

My boy, born and bred in the desert insisted on going out this morning kept me out for 40mins. The coat I wore is still dripping.
Just went out for afternoon walkies by the river and it is seriously fast and high. Hope we don't have too much more rain in the next 24hrs or I could be paddling in my kitchen.

lucidlady · 03/01/2012 16:02

I took my 3 year old springer out earlier - he got very muddy and wet and had to be hosed down afterwards. Was worth it though as he is now lying snoring at my feet instead of bouncing off the walls.

Avantia · 03/01/2012 16:18

Lovely walk - nobody about !

Ha! Managed a half hour walk round the village, I literally closed the front door as the heavens opened. The hound is now crashed out on the rug.

MartyrStewart · 03/01/2012 16:23

I only managed a quick 45m on lead walk. I just couldn't face the mud if I let my lab off the lead.

louby86 · 03/01/2012 16:25

Managed a walk across the fields when there was a gap in the rain. Never seen such a muddy puppy as today was the day he decided he liked puddles! He's now snoring away in his crate while I'm on the sofa, I think running against the wind has properly worn him out!

bemybebe · 03/01/2012 17:26

My dog went through every single puddle on the way and got all muddy and soaking wet Grin
Will have to make a trip to the lake on Thursday as I am 16weeks pg and have no appetite to lift a 25kg muddy bear to carry to the 1st floor up the stairs and across cream carpets into the bath.

MissBetsyTrotwood · 03/01/2012 17:30

Yes - this morning. But not this afternoon - got a raised eyebrow and a 'you really think so?' look at the front door this afternoon. Will go this evening when the weather dies down a bit.

JasperJohns · 03/01/2012 17:36

I did.

It was bracing to say the least & wind/rain combo made dog go a bit mental.

Huge poplar tree fell down after I had walked past it!

mycatsaysach · 03/01/2012 17:40

wish i had a lazy dog Smile

cat came for the walk too

Twice. Got soaked through both times and still shivering now. MuttDog is currently curled up under her fleece blanket and I'm hugging the fire.

Brrrrr...

Madsometimes · 03/01/2012 17:59

Dh took Patch out for 90 minutes this morning, and we all went out for 25 minutes this afternoon. I'm on a walking program because I am recovering from surgery, so dh has to walk both me and the dog. I'm much more reluctant to walk than the dog, and I moan a lot, but the husband is taking his job as a physio very seriously. He wanted me to do an extra 5 minutes, but I was non-compliant Grin.

Labradorlover · 03/01/2012 21:16

The only dogs I saw out today were labs....
Mine still think they're young.
Won't go out in the garden if it's raining, but a walk in storm force 70mph+ gusts, no problem.

Bring back the snow and freezing weather of last winter, such unmuddy dogs for weeks.

coffeeinbed · 03/01/2012 21:21

No-one saw us because we were camouflaged under enough mud to sink the Titanic.
