Met a lady yesterday she really wants her dog to have one lot of puppies. She asked if my dog would be a stud. They are both Westies. We have planned to meet up in the park next week and let them get on with it! Not sure what usually happens about payment etc. Do we wait until her dog is pregnant then get paid or wait until the puppies are born? also how much is the norm? Also it ok to just meet in the park! Not sure what is the done thing. Thanks

he was lovely. his current owner has had him a while, but he keeps getting attacked by other dogs

My last dog hated all boxers with a vengeance, after a bouncy one accidentally injured his eye when he was young. He wanted to kill every one he met - which was quite funny as he was a dachshund. Grin

(sorry, x-posted with misdee - poor lad)

Poor thing. Dh's last boxer was also attacked by a border collie when she was about 9. Very upsetting.

it's not the most professional approach to dog breeding "can I bring my bitch over so your dog can knock the back off her".

It's going to end with a bag, a couple of house bricks and the local canal isnt it?

twofalls - there are 7 Boxers on the Many Tears website right now. Some have been there quite some time.

I am capable of being pretty horrible on here when the mood takes me. The OP doesn't make me feel angry at all. The idea of having lots of pups from a beloved dog is a lovely idea. The downside is rather more serious. It takes a while for us humans to get our heads around the whole sex thing. We really often only think of ourselves.

Having a stud dog is a job in itself. Otherwise you will end up with an errant animal who puts himself in danger in pursuit of totty. If you really want the dog to father pups, it helps to be seen on the competition scene, and helps more to win things.
We thought about allowing our gorgeous, perfect bitch to have puppies, and we did a lot of research before working out that it wasn't sensible for our situation, or sensible for our bitch.
It is a very good question to ask. Well done, OP for doing that.

Thanks katharine. We are not in a great position right now as dd2 is still a bit young but will take a look for future reference. Thanks
