My dog got a tick once, a huge one, it was truly horrible. At first we thought it was some kind of weird growth that looked like a green olive, then it came off in DPs hand and we realised it had legs [gross].

We 'rehomed' the tick, not the dog though Hmm. I agree some people don't deserve to have dogs in their life. FFS!

FroOOOOOtshoOOOOOOts · 31/10/2011 15:55

I used to work in an animal rescue centre. We had some classics.

Too old, not enough fun, can I swap it for a younger one

Tail is too waggy it keeps knocking things off the coffee table

It got too big for our 3rd floor, one bedroom flat (newfoundland!)

JaneBirkin · 31/10/2011 15:58

Oh I kind of feel sorry for her tbh (well not enough to be sympathetic, iykwim! Obviously she needs educating) but she should try keeping chickens.

I nearly jacked it in this week, having to dig maggots out of one of them.

that was beyond my tolerance level really. But I did it and me and the chicken became close as a result Smile

Still...give me a tick any day.

GalloweesG · 31/10/2011 16:04

Some people are utter twats, that poor dog.

JaneBirkin · 31/10/2011 16:29

See I think that's uncalled for. She might be dim but perhaps she really has odd expectations, she sounds like she genuinely believes she's in the right/justified. She hasn't just ditched it by the side of the road.

I would find the puppy bit the hardest too. She sounds bonkers though.

I know thousands of dogs are pts but sounds like this one won't be, which is not thanks to her of course...but other people's hard work. Maybe you could have a chat with her? I'm sure you have. She may not have thought it through.

MrsSpoonFromButtonMoon · 31/10/2011 16:33

My DS2 got a tick once, I obviously should have rehomed him immediately. Grin

Ephiny · 31/10/2011 16:36

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I know we don't know her and all the details of her situation...but really struggling to think how anyone could justify this! Even if it was just the one dog where things hadn't worked out and she'd felt she had to rehome...but 5 puppies in a year? Shock

tansypansy · 31/10/2011 16:36

I thought my dog had a tick, but it was just a wart (he has lots of warts)

Mine still keeps stealing butter and eating the whole block. I am running out places to hide the butter that she cannot reach. We find a new place weekly, but later discover that she can reach it Hmm

I am hoping one day she will realise that eating a whole block of butter in one go causes her to spend the rest of the day vommiting up greasy yellow stuff all over the house.

We will continue to rehome the butter but the dog will stay. For now it's in the microwave. The butter that is, not the dog.

Oh I missed the bit about five puppies in a year. That's a bit much. See I would want to give back kittens, but fortunately they do become cats, I like cats. Kittens? Hell on four legs.

DogsBeastFiend · 31/10/2011 18:12

WTF?

Just give me her address... I've had enough of numpties today, she'd be the final effing straw and she'd soon know it if I caught up with her! Angry Angry

People like that shouldn't be allowed to breathe, much less own dogs.

Avantia · 31/10/2011 18:30

Ticks ?

I love getting ticks off - those tick twister things are great !

GalloweesG · 31/10/2011 18:39

Why is no one she knows kicking her in the cunt having serious words with her?

JaneBirkin · 31/10/2011 18:41

There are some scary and offensive people on this thread.

misdee · 31/10/2011 18:44
