Having to sell puppies....

and its breaking my heart. We had planned to sell them when she got pregnant but then she only had 2 and decided to keep them.
I have since got a job and know its not fair to have 3 dogs in the garden all day so we decided to sell.
Its horrible i love them so much already (they are nearly 10 weeks old)
just felt like a rant

Too many goddamn puppies in the world already. I think there should be a mandatory chipping and registering and neutering programme implemented.
DD is desperate for a puppy (she's too young right now plus we both work FT) but I've said we would only ever get a rescue dog if our circumstances changed.

You state that a rescue should be a last resort, if the owner really cannot keep the dog. But if anyone has posted on here that they are going to rehome their dog privately, they get flamed. Not quite sure how that goes together - not trying to get at you, just looking for clarification.

You were one of the posters whose response was more measured, actually, and I don't think that the OP was either particularly ignorant or outrageous.

I got my dog from a neighbour. I asked around the dog owners at school if they knew anyone with puppies - cause dog owners do often know - and was told that one of the dinner ladies's dog had puppies. We went around to see them. I trusted my instincts - the house was clean and tidy, the dogs obviously well cared for. We knew the dinner lady a bit and it is a small village so the risks were low. If you are going to go private, then I would look for a friend of a friend, or a neighbour.

I would also be suspicious of someone who was re-homing a puppy for a large sum of money, but sometimes it is a simple case of things not working out. We have friends who bought their dog from a woman who had not realised that she was allergic to dogs.

tbh, I think it is normal to post on a chat thread like Nobdies that you have been flamed elsewhere on MN. I don't belong to the Nobdies, but have belonged to other chat threads, and we always chatted about stuff that went down elsewhere on the boards.

I don't want to get too involved in an argument that is between you and Em, but I do think that berating her for speaking to "friends" is a bit unfair.

This whole thread has gotten completely out of hand. The earlier posters were too harsh, Em reacted too strongly but has since explained her position and has received some good advice.

Maybe we should put it to bed now.

I've just read the nobdies thread too. It's not what you write Em that is the trouble on that thread, it is the responses you got and the encouragement you gave the responses.

Some of the whole discussion you just had over there was pretty insulting actually.

thanks MmeL. Are you paying a guitar too to go with the kumbaya?

I think Beer is wondered about protecting the Nobdies (lovely) reputation, Mme. Not that she needs me to speak for her, I just think I see her pov.

Now gimme the chocolate! Lindt I trust? :o
