anyone help with rehoming a husky and a bullmastiff cross rotti?

Two friends dogs need rehoming.

The bull masstiff cross rotti however has hip dysplasia. My friend has called arounf several local shelters but is worried they will put him to sleep over his hip.
He is castrated, chipped, vaccinated.
The husky is being given away for free (don't get me started). She is speyed, chipped vaccinated.

Ideally I would like both these dogs to go to no kill rescues, or to one of my dog-loving friends.

I won't discuss the issues on board regarding these dogs and rehoming, but would like some other numbers to call etc. We are in herts.

have you tried Iron Mountain rescue for Rottie, not sure if they would take Husky, but worth a shot.

husky is gorgeous ad my dsis to talking to her hubby 2nite about her, but she needs a forever home s has been passed from pillar to post.

Husky's seem to be the Staffy of this generation. They are beautiful well natured dogs but incredibly difficult to train if you have no experience.
I hate seeing their rise in popularity as it means that so many will end up in the position this little lady finds herself.

I hope someone is able to take her on.

i would have her myself in a heartbeat and so would dh but know its not the right time for us as getting over rehoming tom still.

have you tried breed rescues for the Husky? I only know of rescues local to me and they are having some kind of emergency atm and desperately need foster homes, so they won't be able to help.

If you post a rough area someone might know of rescues local to you. Have you tried all the big ones (Dogs Trust, Doris Banham, Many Tears etc)?

I'd love a Husky, but realistically I know I don't have the time or space to dedicate to such a full on breed of dog. They are beautiful dogs aren't they? There are a few husky lovers on MN so hopefully they should be along soon with some ideas.

Bullies in Need might help or know someone who will help with the Mastiff X.

I know Lynne DAvies (of Dog Borstal) has got a husky pup for CaniX, maybe you could contact her. She might be able to help.

I see Husky dogs more and more with the 'fuckwit' brigade of men/young people these days. It seems to be the staffie of 2011.

Amen to huskies becoming the next staffy - as the rottie, dobe and GSD had their turn before them. They make bloody useless pets, they are working dogs through and through and it's only thanks to their wonderful nature (which backyard breeders are doing their best to eradicate through unscrupulous breeding ) that they don't go about savaging people when they're unfulfilled. They will savage your house though.

The husky breed rescues are excellent - SHWA have just rehomed a young male to me and I have nothing but praise, they've been great throughout the whole process, don't have as restrictive policies as some other rescues but have the greatest consideration for the individual dog's needs. They will take dogs without papers.

SHCGB Welfare is the welfare arm of the official breed club, again excellent dealings with them but they will only take a KC reg dog.

Give these a call. I know they are in Scotland but transport usually gets sorted.

Huskies in Need have fosterers all over so don't necessarily need to get a dog all the way to Scotland. Seriously recommend them, particularly if you don't have pedigree papers or the dog is a cross-breed.

Tell her to contact PFK - 01353 777399 - and to speak to Dave (try again if no reply, they can't always get to/don't always hear the phone).

I'm pretty sure that they won't be able to take the poor dog as they are full but it may not be in the dog's interest for you to tell her that or she may not bother calling them. Dave will be able to point her in the right direction and give her advice, which, as she'll be speaking to a no kill rescue owner directly, she might take on board far more than she would anything I say and which you passed on to her, IYSWIM.

Meantime, can you tell me any more about the dog please and I'll try to help.

How long has the owner got before the dog needs out? If necessary an ideal date and a realistic "but can hold on until... " date.

Then I'll need her:

Age
Temperament
Good with kids?
Good with other dogs?
Good with cats/small furries?
How long has she had her?
Where did she come from?
What's she like on the lead?
What's she like when left?
Is she vaccinated up to date?
Any health problems past or present?
Reason for rehoming - pm me of you'd rather.

I'm now a volunteer for the Siberian Husky Welfare Association - they will take the husky immediately but obviously not if money needs to change hands, she would need to voluntarily surrender the dog. Please, please urge her to do so, it's the best possible place, they have a network of expert fosterers.

she wont. which is why i despairing. if i had the cash, i'd buy the dog and surrender her to a rescue as i sick of seeing this gorgeous hyperactive 1yr old husky up for sale, for people to keep taking her and handing her back. she deserves better and i cant make her hand the dog over. she is being cared for well, walked, has a loving home, she isnt being neglected. but she is getting passed around alot.

So she cares more about money than she does the dogs' welfare?

I take it then she hasn't got a deadline for getting rid of her dog then? Or should I say I bloody hope not or who knows what will happen to the poor dog when a deadline arrives and she hasn't managed to sell the poor thing to the highest bidder. :(

How much is she asking?

At least she's neutered, that's something, will put off the lowest of the low who want a breeding machine.
