Probably not allowed to link to an advert but open it and read it, it's heartbreaking

If you believe it.

JaxTellersOldLady · 01/11/2010 20:33

sorry if I could I would. very very sad indeed.

jooseyfruit · 01/11/2010 20:34

let's hope she finds some one willing to take her on. she is stunning.

DooinMeCleanin · 01/11/2010 20:35

You need Vallhala. It's a shame it's so far away from me. I know someone who probably take her. Although they don't have £80.

chandra · 01/11/2010 20:36

TBH, I wouldn't believe anyone that would agree to sell a dog to be used as such, specially when all the difference in the dog future is £5. Sorry, I think is a scam but if you are concerned or the owner, instead of asking for any takers, perhaps a ring to the RSPCA is the thing to do?

EdgarAirbombPoe · 01/11/2010 20:36

This advert is a con, why do they have to sell for more than £75?

if they are loving owners seeking to rehome, they wouldn't do that.

this stinks I am afraid.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 01/11/2010 20:36

if shes that worried she shoulod take it to a shelter. Who keeps a dog for 2 years and then sells it for a van dog?

BunnyLebowski · 01/11/2010 20:37

Its blatantly a scam Hmm.

There's one born every minute eh?

DooinMeCleanin · 01/11/2010 20:40

I wouldn't neccessarily not believe it. Unfortunately people do keep dogs for two years, or even longer and then dump them on the streets/sell them/suddenly start neglecting them/kill them. Just 'cause they get bored.

I was reading it like this was a concerned friend or maybe ex girlfriend of the owner, not the owner himself.

It could be a scam. I hope it is. But it also might not be.

The RSPCA won't be interested.

EdgarAirbombPoe · 01/11/2010 20:43

i would think they were either

  1. uncaring puppy farmers flogging on a dog
  2. uncaring owners moving on a dog, and trying to make a pound or 80 in the process
  3. twats too ignorant to realise that this is not how you go about rehoming a dog.

any which way i wouldn't want to give them my money. The sob story is quite typical puppy farmer BS.

HalloweeseG · 01/11/2010 20:44

It does make me a bit suspicious tbh. It's just one of those adverts that's really got to me :( I've emailed the advertiser to ask a few pertinent questions and make a couple of more humane suggestions but the temptation to buy the dog and try and keep rehome her myself is tempting. Not sure dh would be overly impressed but it might be the only way I can get the lump out of my throat.

If you google the mobile given in the advert it relates to someone who is also reporting another two dogs missing. Coincidence? Or a rescuer?

HalloweeseG · 01/11/2010 20:45

Even if it is a scam there is still a 2 year old dog who needs a good home.

HalloweeseG · 01/11/2010 20:46

Thanks Scurry! Ill look at that.

weirdly the same phone number appears on this advert looking for alsot dog..

MaryMungo · 01/11/2010 20:52

Sounds like the person writing the ad doesn't have possession of the dog, just knows where it is....

EdgarAirbombPoe · 01/11/2010 21:01

X-posts.

no rescuer i don't think - breeder as the advert states the dog was lost with 8 month old pup. And this advert here has same phone number.

another missing dog here. to lose one dog is unfortunate....

I don't think any rescue i know would post an add like that.

HalloweeseG · 01/11/2010 21:04

I'm going to phone tomorrow and try and get the facts straightened out.

scurryfunge · 01/11/2010 21:08

EdgarAirbombPoe · 01/11/2010 21:09

another dog for sale

EdgarAirbombPoe · 01/11/2010 21:11

soz scurry x-post.

scurryfunge · 01/11/2010 21:14

It is strange, isn't it?

DooinMeCleanin · 01/11/2010 21:14

That is quite suspicious. I wonder what they could be doing?

HalloweeseG · 01/11/2010 21:19

I've mailed the site to report all the weird findings. I don't suppose for one minute the RSPCA would be interested ???

OP posts:
DooinMeCleanin · 01/11/2010 21:21

I doubt it. None of the dogs look physically neglected. It's very odd though. You don't suppose they could be stealing dogs to sell do you?

Although I don't know why they would be advertising lost dogs if they were???
