It appears to be from the loft (I'm in a bungalow). It's HA so they are sending someone out, they did ask if I could wait until Monday but when I said a similar thing had brought the kitchen ceiling in as a child they decided someone will come out.

I have a window vac so I keep using that.

Morning.

Sorry for the late start I was awake late. My cat is telling me off for having the audacity to not get up at 3am.

I'm going to let Florence make cheese on toast and Fernando is making fruit based cocktails.

Oh leak update.

It is the roof. Difficult to describe but my roof and the joined neighbour ar at right angles, a bit like this.

https://images.finehomebuilding.com/app/uploads/2012/12/10163347/Off_Angle_Hip_Framing_Model-main.png

Anyway where the two meet the, concrete / whatever it is has broken / fallen down so the water is going through the roof, the loft insulation and then through the ceiling.

He's referred it on to the roofing team.

@ScottBakula IRL it is more a navy colour. My carer used to live here and he chose the colours, the other three walls are a paler blue.

@sashh I wonder if it's the lead flashing that has moved (or been nicked ) . My neighbours had this problem on their chimney stack and didn't realise for ages. It was a bugger for them to fix as it when through all three floors of their home. I hope yours is resolved quickly.

It's a lovely colour in the photo and very probably irl too . Your carer has good taste

Can I have mature chedder with a bit of Stilton mixed in on two rounds please.

sashh · 12/03/2024 03:51

Well I just wrote a long post about the roof and other things but it disappeared.

To cut a long story short, I'm sticking to cheese on toast and Fernando is making a spiced alcoholic hot chocolate.

OP posts:
Tilllly · 12/03/2024 04:20

Spiced alcoholic hot chocolate?

☕️
I'm going to try me some of that

PeopleAreWeird · 12/03/2024 05:04

I cant remember the last time i had that, must be years and years ago!
Yum!

sashh · 12/03/2024 08:16

OK update on my week.

On Thursday the roofing people are due.

I bought a mobility scooter on gumtree, I know that's a risk but the buyer said it had not been used but needed a new battery, they dropped the price quite a bit so I went with it.

We (carer and me) could not get the batteries out of the box, so my carer called a company that services them, he read off all of the information from the battery box and they sent someone out.

Unfortunately the model of scooter has two different types of batteries and they had brought the wrong ones.

So he took my batteries, still in the box, and came back with new batteries yesterday.

So today is a scooter try out day.

OP posts:
Tilllly · 12/03/2024 08:54

Fingers crossed the scooter is speedy

Fingers crossed it isn't, it's limited to 4 mph.

OP posts:
Tilllly · 12/03/2024 09:36

That's speedy!

ScottBakula · 12/03/2024 22:08

Ohh does that mean you can do delivery's now 😆.

A Scooter gave my mum a new lease of life many many yrs ago . It was great for her but just mind the battery doesn't go flat when your out. Getting them home is a real bugger!

Tilllly · 13/03/2024 03:06

🥱
Morning

Bacon sandwiches and waffles with assorted toppings, ready when you are

sashh · 13/03/2024 06:12

Morning.

Apparently @Tilllly is making bacon sandwiches and waffles. So I'll go and see what Leo is up to.

@ScottBakula I've taken out insurance with breakdown recovery.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 13/03/2024 07:59

@Tilllly , please can I have a bacon buttie with a spot of HP.

@sashh , ah a very wise move , I don't know if insurance and breakdown cover was a thing for mobility scooters when she had one ( 25 /28 yrs ago ) .

Leo has wandered back onto his own thread

Tilllly · 13/03/2024 08:57

Good job Sashh has Florence and she's made granary bread

sashh · 13/03/2024 09:31

@ScottBakula

I watched a documentary about scooters and how a lot of people don't have a driving licence and don't look where they are going properly.

One woman had run someone over and was liable for £16 000.

I'd probably run over people on purpose if they annoyed me

ScottBakula · 13/03/2024 21:46

@sashh bloody hell, that's a tale for caution !

I would like to introduce you all to @pollyglot, I think she is amazing and has a story that needs telling . Imo we should not forget the people that served and the hardship of those left behind

I know some of you are from the other wrong side of the hill , do you know the hall Polly is talking about ?

write a book, at almost 74? It will require travel to the other side of the world and lots of resources for the research. Probably no-one will publish...

pollyglot · 13/03/2024 21:56

Thank you for the greeting and the bigging up, Scotty. As I said to you, you have been such an encouragement to me. The hall Scotty is referring to is Oakwell, near Batley. The first book is about the women and children who suffered and died in war in the 18th century. The second, set in Pudsey and Thorner, West Yorkshire, concerns the PTSD caused by the suffering of the children in Boston during the siege, and how it affected subsequent generations, including my aunt Sarah, the heroine of the second novel. And no, I'm not trying to sell books-i don't care whether they sell or not. But women's stories need to be told, and if my generation do not tell them, they will be forgotten. Scotty, I take it from your comment that you are a Lancashire lass? If so, 'im indoors, from Wythenshawe originally, now a proud Anglo-Kiwi (borrowing from the Yanks), says hi. :)

ScottBakula · 13/03/2024 22:28

Welcome to the café @pollyglot , yes I am . We grew up near each other , I am from cholton ! .
Keep writing and let us know when they are for sale 😉

MinnieMountain · 14/03/2024 06:14

sashh · 14/03/2024 06:41
