Why are you awake?

My DS is 2 years 3 months, and he just started sleeping through the night yesterday. In his bed! But what am I doing? I am awake checking up on him if everything is ok 🫠🤦🏻‍♀️

I am also 15 weeks pregnant with #2, and you'd think my body would know by now that uninterrupted night is a gold dust in this parenting world and would just fall asleep, but noooo... Here I am lying awake, thinking about most random conversations I had 10 years ago.
Why are you awake?

Feeding 9 week old DD. It’s her first wake up since falling asleep at 8.30 so I’m very happy!

Toddler with chickenpox 😫 very itchy and very upset.. long night!

Natsku · 21/02/2023 04:16

Woke up to roll over as i often do and my brain kicked in too much, thinking about the jar of dulce de leche that's in the cupboard which woke me up a bit too much, then my partner's alarm went off and all hope of falling back asleep went.

LadyMargaretDevereux · 21/02/2023 04:20

Snorer next to me. Staying away from home so there's no spare bed to move to as I usually would at home. Sitting on the sofa in the living room, wide awake having tried to sleep for the last 2 hours. Sometimes, it's better just to get up and scroll MN, read a book etc. I'll be tired tomorrow though.

bert3400 · 21/02/2023 04:35

Woke up at 4 as had an argument with DH last night and he slept on the sofa ...not normally a problem - I get the bed to myself 😊 but we are meant to be going away this morning for a few days, dog sitter booked, swanky hotel booked , train booked for 10am - not sure the morning is long enough to make up and get going - station is an hour away so need to be talking by 9 . We rarely argue but when we do it can take a while to get back to our happy selves .

I've got covid for the second time and I feel like death warmed up. Everything hurts and I cant even move without pain somewhere. Breathing like I've been running too. So tired but can't sleep

Sorry to hear that - hope you feel better soon as that sounds very rough.

Rightsraptor · 21/02/2023 05:20

Oh dear, @bert3400, I do hope you sort things out.

I woke at 4.30am. Not unusual. I'm about to pick up a Bill Bryson book and hope to fall asleep again for a while. But if I do, I will have vivid dreams, because that always happens and I hate it.

TheTempest · 21/02/2023 05:52

I woke up with pain about 4am and then haven’t been able to go back to sleep. The joys of chronic pain conditions!

Aldisfinest · 21/02/2023 05:59

Being induced today and absolutely shitting bricks Grin

icelollycraving · 21/02/2023 06:17

Cramp! Wakes me up nearly every night aghhh

Put a bar of soap under your bottom sheet on the bed. I have done this and not had cramp at night for a few months now. Sounds mad but it seems to work.

bert3400 · 21/02/2023 12:33

@Aldisfinest good luck with your induction.

Me and DH made up and currently on route to a few days away .

007DoubleOSeven · 21/02/2023 12:36

@Angela59 cramping legs is usually a sign of low potassium.

Kate8990 · 22/02/2023 00:45

I'm up again with anxiety. Also time of the month so fun times! It just keeps getting better 🙄
I've not long taken painkillers so hopefully they kick in soon and I calm the F down. I called a crisis line today and waiting to hear from a psychologist. Just generally feeling overwhelmed and ranging from teary/had enough to panic attack.

lovedive · 23/02/2023 02:58

My dd waters have broken and I've rushed to hers to mind my grandkids. I'm not going to sleep much lol

Rightsraptor · 23/02/2023 03:25

I woke up after 2h sleep. So cross. Will get tea and book, or play cards on my tablet to bore myself back to sleep.

Good luck to all those labourers out there. 💐

I'm up watching my 3yo eat cheddars, at gone midnight. It's taken get an hour to eat the mini pack so far...

I wouldn't be putting up with this if it wasn't that:

-she's underweight, and on dietician instructions to feed her as many calories as possible.

  • she's had a cold and has picked at food for the last week, so if she's eating I'll take it
-if I refuse it'll turn into a huge meltdown that will keep her up for hours and frankly I don't need an hour of screaming right now.

Once she's done, she'll probably fall asleep on my head or something or push me into an awful position, which does wonders for my quality of sleep, and my back. Hey just thing is

She needs decent rest because of her health condition, she needs the reassurance of me near, and she is also much more volatile if she doesn't get sleep, so it's like co-sleeping on eggshells sometimes.

I hope the cheddars crumbs stay her side of the bed, as I don't need that additional annoyance.

HateEatingInTheDark · 25/02/2023 01:10

Always awake at this time….
I need a better routine
