Cant believe stephanie has just gone, that bloody mr bojangles, cant believe they made her sing it. She must be gutted. I had her in my final with danelle and lauren.

OP posts:
NonnoMum · 02/05/2010 22:50

There seems to be a lot of gurning/pulling v odd faces in this season.

But, hey, that's Musical Theatre for you...

And WHO chose Mr Bojangles for her to sing... Unfair, unfair, unfair.

NonnoMum · 02/05/2010 22:51

And congrats to Denise and Lee...

Molesworth · 02/05/2010 22:52

Yup, Mr Bojangles was a tough, tough song, and not as popular with the public as the others. Stephanie was unlucky there.

janeite · 02/05/2010 22:53

My dds have been doing super-sarcastic 'snap it out's all week. Had never seen or heard of that bloke before - he is a pillock.

gigglewitch · 02/05/2010 22:53

stephanie was our choice too dd is gutted now and says she won't watch it any more. We thought she'd definitely make the final.

KillerCleavage · 02/05/2010 22:57

Very unfair NonnoMum. There are so many fab songs they could choose.

Just as unfair as getting Emilie to sing 'The boy does nothing' It was a completely shite song when Alesha Dixon did it. Can't imagine Judy Garland would have performed it any better.

Perhaps next week one of the girls will be given Agadoo. I can hear Sheila now 'you just didn't sell it to me'

Haha tho - a few of my friends work in musical theatre. They have special lessons for the faces lol.

NonnoMum · 02/05/2010 23:03

But, Killer, (and I might be being a bit mean here?), isn't it true that people in Musical Theatre have 'slightly odd faces' without even gurning.

Am thinking Connie, even Lee Mead.

Yes, yes, I know they are talented and gorgeous etc. But they aren't going to be film stars are they?

Try telling your friends about their odds faces. They'll love you.

LOL at Agadoo. Or "Shadduppa your face"? or "Park Life" or "E's a Good"?

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 02/05/2010 23:10

Lee Mead is gorgeous though, no?
And Emilie was horrific every week
though v gracious in defeat, I thought

gigglewitch · 02/05/2010 23:11

I reckon they should get YMCA in as well - there's six of em left aren't there....

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 02/05/2010 23:14

And what's with the Lord's bizarre twitching during the performances?
Is he talking to himself?

Dd loves him and gets v cross at the 'ugly' implications
tonight she said
'i just want to chub his cheeks mummy!'

KillerCleavage · 02/05/2010 23:16

Haha - E's a Good made me laugh out loud. I'd love to see that!

Dunno about odd faces. A couple of them maybe. OK yes both of them. Two are drop dead gorgeous and one has done a lot of tv and a bit of film. Retired now tho to the heady world of corporate videos. Pays very well I understand.

I guess in musical theatre only the front two rows can see them clearly!

nigglewiggle · 02/05/2010 23:27

Nonnomum

NonnoMum · 03/05/2010 07:01

Of course not bitter about my own failed career. Probably my face is too symmetrical.

And twitch-free.

DelGirl · 03/05/2010 08:43

Just watched last night's vote off and cried like a baby . Sooooo emotional. My fave is Steph, then Lauren but like someone said, Steph may not make it if Andrew thinks no-one will pay to watch her . I think though that the people who are voting don't necessarily go to the theatre. It seems to me that sometimes jo public just doesn't have a bloody clue about talent really if you look at previous series'.

Anyway, in any event Steph has got a career ahead of her it just seems sad that her talent isn't being recognised by the voters.

I thought Saturday nights show was brilliant. I can't wait for next weeks show.

DelGirl · 03/05/2010 08:46

And if you saw the people from the Welsh girls town, they were all voting for her but she's not necessarily the best. Same goes for the Scottish girl too.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 03/05/2010 09:15

How many of you sad that someone has gone have actually voted?

NonnoMum · 03/05/2010 10:09

The whole point of these Talent Shows is that they are contentious and get people talking. If they really wanted the best girl, they would just hold auditions, cast someone, end of.
But getting the chattering classes oo-ing and ah-ing about who lost out and who goes through etc etc raises the profile of both the TV show and the West End show.
And, as for regional favourites; remember Michelle McManus?

But I still love it though!!!

JulesJules · 03/05/2010 10:27

I think Steph suffered by being first up on Saturday night, and Stephanie suffered by having the worst song of all time to sing.

Slightly concerned about next week's double eviction - are they going to make two of them squash up on the flying moon

DelGirl · 03/05/2010 11:44

lol jules. I know it raises the profile but there's not much else on any night of the week that's quite as entertaining and feel good (for the most part). I like it so there

LifeOfKate · 03/05/2010 12:44

My favourites are Danielle and Lauren. I do prefer Lauren, but think Danielle would make a much better Dorothy.

I love this show and it is enabling me to start DS's gentle indoctrination introduction to musical theatre

muminthemiddle · 03/05/2010 15:18

Agree with evryone else.

I had Stephanie and Lauren, closely followed by Danielle for the final.

I too wish people would vote for the best all round performer for the role and not vote for who lives nearest to them.

I think half of the viewing public must be tone deaf. How can anyone prefer Sophie, Jenni or Jessica over Stephanie and Steph?

Btw I went to a special sing-a-long with over the rainbow and they had Amy, Bronte and Danni there.
All of them were fantastic but for me Amy had the most amazing beautiful voice ever.

SleepingLion · 03/05/2010 15:39

Is it just me who gets irritated every week by John's attempts to be John Barrowman-lite? He just seems incapable of an original expression of his own - everything he says is channelling JB. The day he says 'Fantastic, fantastic, FANTASTIC!' is the day I stop watching

Come on, John - get your own identity!

Maize · 03/05/2010 15:47

Was sad that Stephanie went. Felt very at how obviously upset she was and thought she was very brave to try to hold it in.

Emilie was v.gracious in defeat last week. I really felt for her over the weeks because she was obviously much weaker than the other girls and knew she would not win so was just waiting to be voted out. And I wonder if there was any animosity towards her when more talented singers were voted out instead of her.

John reallllllllllly irritates me, too OTT.

Sheila and Charlotte are fab - very honest but not gimicky.

Danielle to win! Lauren is amazing but not right for the role IMO

Molesworth · 03/05/2010 15:48

Leave John P alone - I love him!

John B is far too up himself

PuppyMonkey · 03/05/2010 16:03

Big Band Week and somebody thought of Mr Bojangles?????? Of all the wonderful Big Band tunes you could ever think of Stephanie should definitely demand an inquiry about how she got lumbered with such a dud....

Lauren to win, btw.
