woah!!

OP posts:

It was fantastic - some laugh out loud moments, and some really poignant ones. Loved Joan coming back - love the fact that she and Roger just 'get' each other. Even though they're not together, they're the most stable relationship in the series, in some ways.

Scrudd · 16/04/2010 16:25

unnatural?! LOL

Don't worry, the irony of me behaving like a sixties housewife and allowing dh to make a decision about something I want to do hasn't passed me by

Oh yes, jackieno - some proper guffaw moments in the last episode

DastardlyandSmugly · 16/04/2010 16:33

Can someone remind me what happened to the little boy that Peggy had by Peter?

Scrudd · 16/04/2010 16:37

He was adopted, I think?

TheFoosa · 16/04/2010 16:58

I thought that Peggy's sister was raising him as her own child

Scrudd · 16/04/2010 17:08

Really? I might have to google now! I do remember something about him being with her sister but must have blocked it out with the trauma, or something.

By the way, did anyone else realise that she was pregnant? It crossed my mind a few times, especially towards the end of the pregnancy, but it definitely wasn't a certainty.

Scrudd · 16/04/2010 17:13

See [http://blogs.amctv.com/mad-men/talk/2008/10/peggys-baby-ado.php mad men blog here]]

Seems that misdirection is part of the programme maker's game ;)

Don't be fooled by the title of the blog, Peggy's baby was definitely Pete's.

Scrudd · 16/04/2010 17:15

bugger, still learning MN link rules, coupled with having just defected from PC to mac at home

ffs.

mad men blog

Sorry!

It had better bloody work this time because if it doesn't then I'm too stupid to watch mad men in the first place

Nuttybear · 17/04/2010 11:01

Thank you Scudd. I do think that leaving things unsaid in the programe is part of the charm. I like that it might be cleared up in later in the series, it keep you wanting to know more.

ZoneArmatrading · 19/04/2010 07:34

Just caught up with last ep.

I love Roger. When they didn't understand how the agency worked I wailed 'they're going to call Joan, they're going to call Joan'.

So Don's dad left the co-op (McCann buyout) .....then got kicked in the head.

How many other women has Don slept with in all three seasons?

Midge
Rachel
Mrs Utz nuts
wild child in california - one of my fave eps. Heat stroke. Don all vulnerable.
air hostess
teacher

Any more for any more?

theyoungvisiter · 19/04/2010 07:56

only just seen this thread

[palpitates]

WHAT a fab episode! The bit at the end with the children sitting with Carla had me all welling up!

Re Sal, I am sure I read on teh web (maybe wiki?) that he got invited back to head art at the new agency - but I can't find any reference to that now so maybe it was a mistaken rumour?

Do you think that the teacher is Don's true love or do you think he is not capable of that? I wonder if he will redeem himself with her in series 4, or if he'll philander horribly with her too.

ClickNegg · 19/04/2010 08:22

oh also the jewish dept store woman rachel and the comics wife bobbi

Nuttybear · 19/04/2010 18:26

No teacher was just a conquest

ToDoOrNotToDoList · 19/04/2010 21:43

the tall beardy poncy bloke (never remember his name) was the bin-filler. I have mistakenly started a thread on AIBU about my mad men obsession. I've now just watched the last Ep having saved it up, and that's it, I'm hooked, real life just doesn't cut it anymore.
and has anyone else noticed how thin Pete is getting? and when will he and Betty get onto the whole baby, he and his wife can't have one thing. did you see the eye flicker that Betty did when Trudie delivered lunch to them all?
Sigh, I honestly can't remember being this TV crushed since Magnum!

ToDoOrNotToDoList · 19/04/2010 21:45

Carla the unsung hero. She knew. She knew it was all going to go to shit once Betty started lying!

ToDoOrNotToDoList · 19/04/2010 21:48

me again. sorry, not reading properly as too excited to find other MM lovers. Peggy's baby is being brought up by the sister.
Ooh, I've just realised I know someone at the production company. How can I not have remembered that?
right, how shall I shamelessly misuse this contact for all of our benefit?

LOL. I thought that dance was brilliant

OP posts:
DastardlyandSmugly · 20/04/2010 09:34

Agreed the dance was fab.

theyoungvisiter · 20/04/2010 13:11

I live in the fond hope that DH and I will somehow spontaneously burst into a synchonised dance like that one day.

Doesn't seem to have happened yet. Possibly because neither of us can dance.

Betty lying about what??? I've lost the plot.
I thought for a mo that Carla was one of Don's conquest & then I remembered! I've ssmacked my own wrist! is Pete's wife called Betty too! Who's Trudie? I've got to do some research!!!

Nuttybear · 20/04/2010 20:21

Oh! Trudie is married to Pete So who is Betty or do you mean Peggy looked at Trudie. I think I've got it now! I don't think Peggy gives a toss about Pete but Pete annoyed that she doesn't give a toss about him! What is going to happend with her relationship with DUCK!

theyoungvisiter · 20/04/2010 21:24

Yes, ToDoOrNotToDo meant Peggy did an eye flicker at Trudie, not Betty.

Peggy is bothered about Pete IMO - that was why she asked Don who was going to the new company and when Don wouldn't tell her, she was about to refuse to come, but then Don cried at her and she caved (let's face it, who wouldn't).

I don't think Peggy wants to be with Pete - but she doesn't want to work with him. Understandably. Must make things a bit awkward round the coffee machine if you've had your colleague's illegitimate baby and hushed the whole thing up.

My favourite bit of the last show was when Roger Sterling told Peggy to make him coffee and she just said "no" without even looking up
