I cried and laughed towards the end.

Wouldn't she have been sectioned in RL?

satc2bringiton · 19/04/2010 11:01

Part one was so good for me because of the 50's and the music etc.

I enjoyed part 2 and found so bits very emotional although the 'roof' section ruined the ending for me. Also Moira ranting outside was a bit OTT.

OrmRenewed · 19/04/2010 21:42

I felt sorry for her poor husband TBH and felt the urge to give her a slap.

Pixel · 19/04/2010 21:54

Ormrenewed glad it wasn't just me! I thought she was very annoying and self-centred and felt sorry for her husband. I too wanted to give her a slap when she was basically ruining her son's wedding day with her miserable face and rushing off to accost complete strangers. I was just thinking "FGS get a grip woman".

WhereYouLeftIt · 19/04/2010 22:20

Thank you OrmRenewed and Pixel! Maybe because I didn't see the first part I just got annoyed with her - saw her less as a passionate woman and more of a drama queen, believing herself to be the tragic heroine of a melodrama. Why else ruin her son's wedding day unless it was all about me, me, me! Truly the MIL from hell, no wonder they were heading for Australia ...

And yes, I too felt sorry for the husband, soldiering on, knowing he wasn't loved, hoping she would see he was there.

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 19/04/2010 23:45

I enjoyed both parts individually, but didn't really see it as a cohesive story. The first part was a drama and the second part more of a farcical comedy/drama.

I can just imagine the MIL thread that her DIL would start in AIBU on here .

APassionateWoman · 20/04/2010 19:42

First part was fabulous. Billie Piper was superb.

Second part very disappointing. Badly written and terrible acting - Sue Johnston's performance not up to her usual standards.

Crapweasel · 20/04/2010 22:02

I thought that re the potential MN MIL thread too.

"AIBU....?"

magentastardust · 20/04/2010 22:30

The girl that play young Moira was also the voice of Belle nueron from Nina and the nuerons!!

And the young Donald was played by the old Donals's real life son.

wubblybubbly · 21/04/2010 10:28

magenta, that makes sense, I couldn't believe how like Alun Armstrong the young Donald looked - never thought to check the credits!

wintera · 21/04/2010 12:47

I only saw the second part but she got on my bloody nerves! Glad some others have said the same. And the young Polish fella looked like a right smarmy bugger too. Rather obvious he would have been a skirt chaser. I was also thinking Get a grip!!

swanandduck · 21/04/2010 13:01

I really enjoyed the first part, but thought the second part descended into ridiculous melodrama. The scene on the roof was totally over the top and farcical and I agree that, in real life, she'd have been sectioned. I also thought the character as played by Billie Piper bore no relation to the older character played by Sue Johnston. They were just two totally different types of people and I found the second part totally unbelievable as a result. I also thought the re-introduction of Moira did not work and just looked totally ham fisted.
