Yes, but if you're needlephobic, then it's never 'just a scratch' because your anticipation of this terrifying thing just amps everything up.

Actually, I really feel sorry for her. If you're phobic, you're phobic.

princessmel · 30/03/2010 21:45

lol at 'well that's something'

DinahRod · 30/03/2010 21:45

£1000! Sperm must be gold-plated.

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2010 21:45

That sicky feeling grips you and doesn't let go. I tried gas and air, made me retch and I gave up in the end.

Made me feel out of control. Eugh.

CUNextTuesday · 30/03/2010 21:46

Are you on that gas n air again books?

I remember, after a 36 hour labour giving birth to DS, I was given an injection to deliver the placenta and I actually said "Ouch, that hurts!"

DelsParadiseWife · 30/03/2010 21:47

I don't get it:

her 'It hurts'

MW 'shall I get the Anathetist?'

he 'I won't be able to sit still'

MW 'We'll turn the drip down and make it less painful'

DOH, now there's an idea........

Sabs1981 · 30/03/2010 21:47

I puked as soon as I sat down on the labour ward. I hadnt even touched the gas and air at that point!

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2010 21:47

wotcha Meggle my love.

pigleychez · 30/03/2010 21:47

would she be able to keep still long enough for an epidural though the way she jumped when they did the one in her hand?

Isnt it vital you keep still that they get it in the right place?

McBitchy · 30/03/2010 21:47

i am and also a fair bit at all this 'offering' of epidurals...

not in any birth room I have been in (despite begging pleading swearing kindly requests)

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2010 21:48

DH swears his stubbed toe hurt more than the contraction I was experiencing as I vociferously swore at him for complaining.

emkana · 30/03/2010 21:48

When I had dd2 I was on a drip and they tried to give me an epidural but I couldn't keep still long enough for them to do it safely. So in the end just had gas &air.

ruddynorah · 30/03/2010 21:48

i was offered epidurals in both my labours, and i refused them both times.

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2010 21:49

I needed an epidural and had to wait hours. Anaesthetist was v busy. Seem more available here.
