hope this one doesn't disappear.

Screaming is fine. It's a normal response to intense pain for some.

So sick of seeing ignorant, bossy midwives like this.

mine wasn't moaning or screaming it was "have I pooed, I'm sorry if I pooed, did I poooooo? Oh god, sorry if I pooed" repeat until baby in arms!

BigTillyMint · 10/03/2010 09:18

Well depite the fact that Ross was only 17, he was definitely the best father-to-be so far. And his face when the baby was born - it was so lovely.

BalloonSlayer · 10/03/2010 09:29

I thought when I first saw Leoni that her bump was very high, it didn't look as if the head was engaged to me . . . she didn't seem to me to have a "birth imminent" bump.

I wondered whether she'd have the same experience as me - baby too big to drop down, very little dilated after a long time in labour + drip. Distress, then C-section of a biiiiig boy. She did!

stressheaderic · 10/03/2010 09:58

I just don't get the anti-midwife stance on MN...I didn't think the midwives last night were any of the negative things mentioned on this thread, in fact i thought they were great.
As a first timer, two weeks ago - my two midwives were clearly in control, and telling me exactly what to do re pushing, where to push from, panting, breathing...and I was grateful. I'd never given birth before, I needed their help. People say your body knows what to do...well, mine didn't.

haggisaggis · 10/03/2010 10:49

Does anyone else think the TV crew must really hate that receptionist as she is always filmed stuffing her face and doing absolutely nothing!

bert74 · 10/03/2010 11:17

All the receptionist ever seems to do is eat sweets or biscuits!! Please can I have her job?

Bettymum · 10/03/2010 11:26

I think the receptionist is the "light relief" section of the programme. LOL when the midwives came in and found a half-empty biscuit tin and an empty Roses tin minutes after we'd seen what had happened to the biscuits .

BigTillyMint · 10/03/2010 11:53

Do you think the receptionist is pregnant?

OonaghBhuna · 10/03/2010 12:57

I think she is just fat She is hilarious and they play funny music when its a caption of her!!!

shewhoneverdusts · 10/03/2010 18:16

She's not pregnant, she's looked like that for at least the last three years. I worked there for about 18 months and it is clever editing to be honest. There are always cakes, biscuits chocolates and ALL the staff munch on them as they pass through.
Loved the line about the lipstick wearing off though. Bless her.

ilovesprouts · 10/03/2010 21:22

she looks like dds old y6 teacher

mamasez · 10/03/2010 22:29

the girl in pink was 21 and the midwife was 3rd year student

TwoIfBySea · 10/03/2010 22:35

Did we ever find out what happened to the woman who came in on the wheelchair? (and I do mean on rather than in!)

Agreed that the receptionist does seem a bit of a mare - commented last night that the production team don't seem to like her for the way they are making her look!

Thought the 17-year-old couple were absolutely lovely, knocks what some people say about young parents on the head. I hope they have a lovely life with their new bub.

nomorecake · 16/03/2010 15:29

looking forward to this again tonight.

i wonder if they will have forceps or ventouse birth in the series.

DomesticG0ddess · 16/03/2010 15:35

I'm looking forward to watching it tonight too, although other half groans every time he sees me turning it on. Not looking forward to October though when I will (fingers crossed) give birth in that hospital!
