Oh I love it! Can I have my tubes untied now please?

cyteen · 09/03/2010 22:00

gaelicsheep, my DS still had dried up birth grot on his head two WEEKS later. We were very nervous first time bathers

MamaGoblin · 09/03/2010 22:00

DS wasn't cleaned up, but I remember accusing the woman of washing him without asking me because he came out without vernix, clean as a whistle! Wasn't overdue either.

His hair, on the other hand - cute punk hairstyle glued into place with a mixture of blood, fluid and possibly meconium! We didn't give the poor love a bath (in hospital - still) until the fourth day.

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 22:01

got hosp to show me how to do it with ds in hosp

wonka · 09/03/2010 22:01

My Husband took all ours down to the Nursery the first day and bathed them all it was 'his job'!

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 22:04

Did you have home birth wonka?

wonka · 09/03/2010 22:05

No all hideous and unnatural.. but in fairness they were all over 10lb!

just you said ur dh took down to nursery I imagined stairs. Gosh that's big. Dd was 9.6 but ds only 7.5

wonka · 09/03/2010 22:10

Sorry.. Hospital had a nursery room. Would have given anything for just my planned 6 hour discharge, has taken me years to get over the cheated feeling. The first was 10lb 11oz and the lightest was 10lb 5oz.. The 4 of them are all on the 9th centile now though!

Missus84 · 09/03/2010 22:12

What shouting and bullying? You must have watched a different episode to me.

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 22:12

That's what mine was like with ds but I needed it otherwise I don't think I would have made it without intervention. Dd was different I told them what I was gonna do and refused internal!

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 22:14

Aw wonka that musta been really hard! I was very lucky with both mine

Aw that doesn't sound good!! It wasn't like that for me it was the encouragement I needed! Sorry it was so difficult for you.

ilovesprouts · 09/03/2010 22:22

awwh loved watching it tonight

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 22:24

Me too sprouts And I love the name.

cyb · 09/03/2010 22:29

I thought the young girl, boyfriend and paramedic Mum were fab tonight and yes I still cry every time I see a baby pop out. How pretty was their little girl. I thought the boyfriend was lovely

Prosecco · 09/03/2010 22:46

Me too Cyb. It gets me every week without fail. I am teary right now

clarebear1 · 09/03/2010 22:49

Yep me too! I have my fingers crossed until the baby cries too...

Prosecco · 09/03/2010 22:50

I am watching it an hour later, am not still crying over a stranger's birth

ouryve · 09/03/2010 22:57

Re: making noises, screaming does waste energy, but low "mooing" noises like the air raid siren at the start are much more productive and focussing. A bit like all the grunts tennis players make.

I thought's Abbi's mum and boyfriend were fab, but I was a bit worried the poor lad was in danger of having his thumb bitten off, at one point!

gaelicsheep · 09/03/2010 23:03

I was told off for low (if loud) mooing/grunting noises. Like I had any control over it!

ouryve · 09/03/2010 23:12

And that is ridiculous. Screaming puts all your energy into your head, while mooing centres it in your body.

My labour noises with DS2 were more like the lady in the Jeans in the wheelchair at the start - just without the screaming! There were an awful lot of ohmygods! That baby was the biggest poo I'd ever had!

SparklyGothKat · 10/03/2010 00:19

Just watched it on 4od, thought that Leonie was handling it great, didn't realise she wasn't in estat. labour. Her mum was useless, she didn't even rub her back, the midwife kept coming in to do it.

Abbie's partner and mum were fab, and I laboured just like Abbie with Ds2, wanted to push at 6cms, as soon as the midwife said I could I shout 'I can't do it'
