ahhh Abbie's bf is lovely

mowcop · 09/03/2010 21:45

not being judgy, they just did it automatically with my 3. Assumed that was what happened.

cyteen · 09/03/2010 21:46

I seem to have got a bit of grit in my eye

Abbie's labour looked so much like mine - water slowed things down, spent ages trying to get the baby round the birth canal, ended up knackered and lying on my back but still managed to push him out. All a bit emotional really. They seem like a lovely family, well done to them all

expatinscotland · 09/03/2010 21:46

I didn't want DD2 on my chest. I wanted to stay on my fours. She was born with my on my knees with my arms hugging the back of the bed, which had been put upright.

And thankfully no one pushed me to turn round until I was ready, which was a bit after the placenta delivered.

She fed straightaway, was a dream to BF.

poor Leonie i went through a very similar birth with my firs dc , ended up an emergency c-section

MamaGoblin · 09/03/2010 21:49

Leoni's mum is fannying about with trousers and missing her daughter starting her c-section - L's terrified. She's not much use, is she?

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 21:49

Dd2 said hello to me through my legs I was on all fours as well. Was most special day of my life. So much easier than ds just cos I knew what was coming!! Midwife even gave us blow by blow placenta showing! Then fed her .

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 09/03/2010 21:50

That seems like the worst kind of labour So long and knackering followed by interventions then a bloody C section in the end Poor thing. Still at least her boy is about to be born! Yay!

gaelicsheep · 09/03/2010 21:52

I'm not sure I want this one delivering onto my chest. I'm not sure why really.

expatinscotland · 09/03/2010 21:52

They like to scrub babies very clean in this hospital, don't they?

wonka · 09/03/2010 21:53

Well thats why he didn't come out!

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 21:54

I always said want them to take em away and clean em first. Of course don't feel like that when it happens

wonka · 09/03/2010 21:54

expatinscotland · 09/03/2010 21:54

They cleaned DS at Paisley. But not the girls are the Royal, Edinburgh. We had to wash them at home.

AnathemaDevice · 09/03/2010 21:56

Did they say how much he weighed? I keep missing all the important information...

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 21:56

Aw so cool xx boo hoo xx

MamaGoblin · 09/03/2010 21:56

I know, I know! But they did that to Abbi's baby too. Some hospitals seem to have more of a practice of cleaning off all the vernix than others.

gaelicsheep · 09/03/2010 21:56

I wish they'd give the vital statistics. Length of first stage, length of second stage, size of baby, etc.

Nettiespagetti · 09/03/2010 21:57

Neither of mine got a wash at all

expatinscotland · 09/03/2010 21:57

Leoni, your son needs his father, too (so long as he's not an abusive arse or into drugs or that).

I missed weight too. More than 9 lb, you reckon?

he was gurning so beautifully!

gaelicsheep · 09/03/2010 21:58

DS still had goo and gore in his hair two days later. I thought I needed permission to bath him. Made for some embarrassing first photos in hindsight!
