Neighbours: am I the only one feeling sorry for Dan?

Poor Dan, Susan really is the the Mother in law from hell and he has to live in the same street.
Libby goes crying to her parents about the slightest thing and tells them much too much. I can understand why he feels so put out.
Don't worry I know it's not real

It is not Dan's fault Susan lost the baby. Everyone know bad things happen when you leave Ramsey Street! And as for going into the Bush? They were all very lucky not to die in a blazing inferno as the number of forest fires about half an hour from that bit of Melbourne is quite alarming.

I'm not sure Sunny's gone permanently. I think she comes back for a couple of months before finally disappearing.

I was hoping they'd make Dan all super-controlling and then Libby would realise he has NPD and break free using only the love and support of her family. But they've just made Susan extra irritating to hound him away. Which is more realistic IMO.

I don't feel sorry for Dan though. He went from school counsellor to Principle via a bit of ropey geography teaching in about 10 minutes.

leavingonajetplane · 19/02/2010 16:04

Ah yes but they already did blazing inferno forest fire 2 years ago to write out Carmella's Marco, so there will be no bush fires for another couple of years.

Drowning is so last year and car accident death was only months ago so I cant think what the next character death can be? Its no wonder they have had to let Declan stay when James Sorenson leaves.

NPD in Neighbours would be great. I'm a bit tired of passive-aggressive Susan now though, i wish they'd let Dan go and have her revert back

thighsmadeofcheddar · 25/02/2010 14:10

Why did Steph and Dan sleep together? I don't understand? Nice best friend..

leavingonajetplane · 25/02/2010 19:49

I think we are supposed to think she felt so betrayed by Libby kissing Lucas and then they succumbed to alcohol-fuelled nostalgia.

I personally dont buy it either and now weve got lots of guilt-stricken Steph acting wierdly scenes to look forward to.

If Dan knew what sort of character assasination they were going to put him through before leaving he might almost have stayed.

minko · 27/02/2010 15:04

Anyone notice Paul's bad leg has grown back? Unlesss prosthetics are really that good these days, it looked pretty healthy in this gnome tights.

Lifeinagoldfishbowl · 28/02/2010 16:53

How can she blame it on toadie! Missed that Minko

dizzydixies · 28/02/2010 16:58

it was soooooooooooooo obvious that steph was going to end up pg with Dan's baby - nothing like promoting safe sex eh, first Declan/Didge and now Dan and Steph

I'll just miss him to look at

leavingonajetplane · 28/02/2010 20:00

Ah but were Toadie and Steph in a hottub recently together? < I am a Gleek>

dizzydixies · 28/02/2010 20:25

can you get pregnant from being in a hot tub with someone

Katz · 28/02/2010 20:42

i wish they'd get rid of Lyn she was annoying before and she's annoying now - and where is Oscar?

minko · 28/02/2010 21:37

Oscar was mentioned this week. The others were worried she'd be sad to be spending Xmas without him. She's not sad the rest of the time. He can only be about 4. No doubt a teenager will appear one of these days claiming to be him...

leavingonajetplane · 28/02/2010 22:44

Apparently the temperature is ideal to increase their motility dizzy!

Yes summer hoyland is about to reappear to swell the teen quota (down a girl since sunny left of course..)Oscar is with Joe, is he?

I didnt remember Lyn being so ditzy/neurotic/overemotional in her previous reign, is it just me or has she gotten much much worse?

dizzydixies · 01/03/2010 11:10

summer hoyland? as in summer and boyd?

leavingonajetplane · 01/03/2010 17:24

Yes that Summer. Although played by a new actress. Im alright with a new actress for her, its the thought of the forthcoming new Declan that still has me upset

dizzydixies · 01/03/2010 18:15

new Declan?!!?!?!?!?!?!??!

leavingonajetplane · 01/03/2010 19:54

I know, its just not right is it? James Sorenson is leaving in Australia shortly so we have a couple of months left before Declan changes heads. I could nominate many other actors in ramsay street I would happily see replaced before Declan!

Indith · 02/03/2010 15:34

When did Steph get so orange?

I've slipped back into watching Neighbours all the time recently though I do wonder if any of the script writers remember past events or have any concept of time.

Dan and Libby all happy and married, oops! The actor is leaving, quick! Character destruction.

I remember when Max left he suddenly started shouting all the time and within 2 episodes had really bad anger problems.

The teen friendships. Rachel goes, Sunny stops being odd and is made into a best friend. Bridget dies, Kate instantly becomes a best friend....

Speaking of Bridget, poor girl was run over and half paralysed, pregnant, almost drowned then gave birth to a (massive!) premature, floppy and blue baby at a music festival before finally realising that death was trying to tell her something and dying. Does nobody ever think that one character may have had enough tragic experiences? Then you get poor sods like Toadie who have just bumbled along with not much happening ever since driving his wife off a cliff.

Sorry, none of that really has anything to do with what is being talked about I'm just getting my Neighbours rants in.

Why the hell has Lyn come back? She pisses me off. Suppose they need Oscar back so that Charlie has a friend his own age instead of hanging around with Ben all the time.

When are Lyn and Rebecca going to stop acting like 12 year olds? It is really annoying.

Andrew suppose since Declan became a devoted father and Zeke seems to be fairly sane they need a bad boy of some description. So is he going to be temporary or will he reform into a good boy in a few weeks after some life changing event shows him how wonderful family and friends are so that Harry can have a friend of his age?

What is going to be done with HArry? They sort of need more characters really since you have the 18 year old bunch then Ben, Callum and Sophie and Harry is just there on his own.

Ok I need to shut up, I am scaring myself with how much I have managed to type about Neighbours.

leavingonajetplane · 02/03/2010 21:51

LoL. Tis very addictive escapism. I think Andrew may lead Harry to the bad and presumably we get the veil side of Paul, but in his son. And he thus wont be able to address it.

Why they have instructed him to insert his best Scottish Accent on, and only on, every fifth word, is beyond me.

But really I think he's there to replace Ringo, in advance, as Sam Brown left neighbours, in a very original and unusual move, to "concentrate on his music career." But came back a few months later.

When you put it that way I can see why Bridget waved and skipped off towards the light so willingly in her death scene.

Im still waiting for Toadies' beloved Dee to turn up with amnesia. They never found the body....

I have no idea how Steph turned orange though.

dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 07:13

leavingonajetplane - I was just about to ask whats with the scots inserts is he scottish???

2shoes · 03/03/2010 07:21

andrew lived in scotland for a while......
toadie has been held hostage a couple of times and was shot once....
can I take bets on how quickly Lucas will get better.......I mean look at Susan

dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 07:22

2shoes, don't be so skeptical, it'll be at least 2 weeks

leavingonajetplane · 03/03/2010 09:11

They need to squeeze just a little more value out of that hospital bedroom set. I like the way no-one knew Lucas was in ICU as they couldnt afford that set find him.

I guess Andrew, Summer and Harry will be the next generation of teenagers.

dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 09:13

I love the fact that whatever is wrong with you thats the hosp room you get - major trauma/childbirth/ingrowing toe nail etc etc etc

am not liking Andrew at all tbh but then I wasn't keen on Declan when he first appeared and he's grown on me

Katz · 03/03/2010 09:27

also Andrew should be 18 not 16 as he was in neighbours back with Chrissie and Caroline in the early 1990's.

Oscar is not around and Lynne rarely from what i have watched goes and visits!

I love the weddings and funerals were none of the family attend. Madge dies and did Charlene or Henry come? you really think they'd miss their mums funeral?

bathbuns · 03/03/2010 12:59

summer also comes back slightly younger than she is supposed to, too. She should be 18/19 I think and they bring her back as a 16 year old.

I also can't stand Lynn.

And WHY couldn't they have just got a new actor to play Dan as they are with Declan and give Libby a happy marriage, instead of assassinating his character?
