much more interesting to think that the bitterness was her true personality. or at least her not knowing where the cancer began and she ended.

Yes, the sister appeared then disappeared.

I don't feel that I learned anything about Mo except that she was extremely straight talking and called Tony 'babe'.

The guy who played Michael Stone was a bit stereotype crazy Irish guy.

Although, after a quick bit of googling, perhaps the Michael Stone part was not so far off. I had forgotten his name.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 31/01/2010 23:21

I think it's the disinhibition that's the change, as bibbity said. Both the steroids and the physiological effects of brain tumours can have this effect. So whatever characteristics MM had that she might normally have kept on a leash - bitterness, crudeness, exhibitionism etc - would have become much more apparent.

policywonk · 31/01/2010 23:22

Len

Would like to watch Mrs Mandela but possibly not tonight.

MollieO · 31/01/2010 23:24

I remember her pre her involvement in Northern Ireland and her apparent canonisation. I thought she was an arrogant and extremely unpleasant politician. Couldn't see the appeal then or now tbh.

Anybody know the name of that actress who played Mo's sister. It's annoying me. I have tried to find a full list of the cast but didn't succeed.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 31/01/2010 23:53

ellie haddington

She played Don Brennans gf in Coronation Street.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 01/02/2010 08:37

'he guy who played Michael Stone was a bit stereotype crazy Irish guy.' that will be some good acting then!

morningpaper · 01/02/2010 08:40

I saw it and it was DEPRESSING

I mean, obviously I sort of knew that there wasn't a surprise happy ending but still

And I had to sit through everyone dying in Lark Rise first FFS

I told DH that I really want a job where I can say "fuck" all day and drink whisky before lunch because whenever I do that, I get fired

Mandelson made me snoort though

I enjoyed it (but I rarely watch telly so the moving pictures impress me)

ilovemydogandmrobama · 01/02/2010 08:43

Yeah that comment. 'Peter, you're a dick' and he replies, 'yes, but a clever dick...' So creepy!

poshtottie · 01/02/2010 09:18

I forgot this was on last night.

Dr.Northerner, where exactly was her house? On the coast road??

I'm also from Redcar.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 01/02/2010 10:27

oh yes i thought mandy was the best thing in it.

GeorginaWorsley · 01/02/2010 10:32

I enjoyed it.
Showed Blair and Mandelson as real shits.
But then we knew that, didn't we?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 01/02/2010 10:34

actually i wasn't at all convinced by the 'tony is a shit' thing, i thought that was a combo of cancer and husband talking.

OP posts:
morningpaper · 01/02/2010 10:37

yeh I agree Aitch

it reminded me of the glory days when we all loved Blair

this explains why me and DH got through two bottles of wine while watching it
