Is there no thread?

It's on early you know!

OP posts:

Oh. He is great and everything, but Olly would be a better pop star. Might still be if you lok at JLS though. So I guess Joe was the best one as he will get the leg up he needs to become a pop star (hope it's not another Leon Jackson job though)

BrigitBigKnickers · 13/12/2009 21:33

I think it was a foregone conclusion when they chose that song for the finalists' single. So obviously a "Joe" and not an "Ollie" song. The best singer but not the best performer won!

DD is happy- she's in luuuurve!

Duritzfan · 13/12/2009 21:52

I cannot believe how addictive this x factor stuff is .... have never been into it before but dd this year was obsessed so got dragged in !!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/12/2009 21:53

Bugger

HinnyPet · 13/12/2009 22:17

Duritzfan aye, that's me! Think me name kinda gives it away

janett · 13/12/2009 22:22

didn't think coming from south shields made you a geordie?

HinnyPet · 13/12/2009 22:51

Where I'm from doesn't make me a "proper geordie" either but I am Geordie through and through.

christmaseve · 14/12/2009 11:57

South Shields isn't far from Newcastle so I reckon it makes a geordie. My mum was from there.

I picked Joe out from his audition as the winner so am chuffed with myself for that. Mixture of a great voice, cuteness and sentimental value for being from my mums home town. She lost her accent entirely as she moved away at 16.

The only reason I got so wrapped up in the xfactor this year was because of Joe! He was a worthy winner IMO.

madhairgirl · 14/12/2009 12:50

If you are born on the banks of the river Tyne it makes you a Geordie, and South Shields is on the south bank of the Tyne, so Joe is a Geordie, and I am really pleased he won, he seemed such a lovely lad and very consistent. Sorry for Olly, but I bet he will still do well

AngryFromManchester · 14/12/2009 13:00

Joe was fabulous from the very bigning and i also placed a bet very early on in the competition with william hill God his family were ruff though werent they? Lovely that someone from such humble surroundings has been given this oppourtunity and I imagine he would do very well in the west end

it was a crap song though

Flower3554 · 14/12/2009 13:37

Strictly speaking if you are born in South Shields you are known as a "Sand Dancer" not a Geordie

HinnyPet · 14/12/2009 13:45

Perhaps we need to see Joe's birth certificate to see if he is a true Geordie born in the Toon or if he was born in South Tyneside....

UnquietDad · 14/12/2009 14:17

What odds did you get on Joe back then, AngryfromManchester? (Interested)

FabIsGettingReadyForChristmas · 14/12/2009 14:29

Nice comment about his family there, AFM.

ijustwanttoaskaquestion · 14/12/2009 16:18

I dont think his family looked rough, they just looked like an ordinary everyday family, not everyone can afford touche eclat and boden you know AFM Isn't it funny that we are so very PC about homosexuality and racism on Mnet (rightly so) but when it comes to the working classes............

midnightexpress · 14/12/2009 16:24

Did anyone see the Xtra Factor?

I didn't but was wondering if the presenters/judges revealed who they had predicted would win back in the auditions?

AngryFromManchester · 14/12/2009 16:27

Er I am working class

ijustwanttoaskaquestion · 14/12/2009 16:34

Then a v strange comment to make re his family - a bit unkind, never judge on appearances.

AngryFromManchester · 14/12/2009 16:40

I actually meant it in a fond way but reading it back you do have a point and I apologise for any offence it has caused. I meant it in a people can be cynical about the show way but it really does give children who have limited oppourtunity more choice/freedom to try and suceed in this kind of thing. My cousins son is a dancer in the west end and it was incredibly difficult for him to get into it despite being very talented. Unfortunately it can be a hard slog, often impossible, if you don't have the monetary means to pay for dance/singing lessons, transport, nice clothes (sounds shallow but you need to look smart) and all the rest of it as I am sure Cheryl Cole knew herself.

I am sorry anyway, words often do not spell out what you want to say due to lack of tone and expression I suppose and I was really clumsy

FabIsGettingReadyForChristmas · 14/12/2009 16:57

No one can ever think that describing someone as rough is fondly said

midnightexpress - all picked Olly other than one who licked Nicole. Who?????

fifitot · 14/12/2009 17:08

I didn't think they sounded rough! Most Geordies sound like that - it's their accent.

I know - I am one!

midnightexpress · 14/12/2009 17:14

Oh thanks Fab, that's interesting. I wouldn't have picked Olly back then - don't think he came into his own until the live shows. I was surprised Simon put him through ahead of one of the girls - the younger of the two had a lovely voice IIRC.

Who is Nicole??

FabIsGettingReadyForChristmas · 14/12/2009 17:16

Exactly! No idea.

midnightexpress · 14/12/2009 17:17

Oh it's the other woman in the over 25s at judges' houses - the one with the dead dad story and quite a big voice.

Stilla · 14/12/2009 17:21

No -Dannii def said Nicole was in her group and was in Dubai . She was the black girl from Bristol who messed up when she sang infront of Dannii and Kylie
