Is it quirky as in a 6 feet under type of way or really quite gruesome?

It brilliant, bit gory, now and again, but not overly.

Dontcomedinewithme · 26/11/2009 18:57

I vote for quirky - also actor who plays Dexter was in 6 feet under!

My 15 yr old DD2 is hooked on it and she can thoroughly recommend the books.

CarGirl · 26/11/2009 18:57

do you watch True Blood is like that in terms of a bit gory now & then (like Nan on the floor etc)

differentID · 26/11/2009 18:58

a bit gory now and again, but very quirky.

cocolepew · 26/11/2009 18:59

There's not blood squirting everywhere, you see him started to cut someone up but not the actal deed. Definitely not gruesome, it's more the thought of what he's doing.

CarGirl · 26/11/2009 19:02

hopefully DH will cope then, he doesn't do gory

CarGirl · 26/11/2009 19:03

he just wants to clarify no worse than "Nip & Tuck" - lol!

I fancy Dexter

cocolepew · 26/11/2009 19:04

I've never watched N&T.

ThatVikRinA22 · 26/11/2009 20:09

its very good. try it. somehow your always on his side, even when he is offing people left right and centre - they all deserve it!

CarGirl · 26/11/2009 20:19

sounds great we always end up buying (and then selling) series on DVD so we can watch them together. Never seem to buy anything romantic to watch thouch

gallusbesom · 26/11/2009 21:33

Try it! As Vicar says you will be on his side - first time I've been rooting for a serial killer!

Be warned his girlfriend/wife gets more annoying with each series

PoppyIsApain · 26/11/2009 21:38

Yes its really good, my dh just told me to type

ApplesinmyPocket · 27/11/2009 08:43

It's quirky all right but extraordinarily good TV. I don't like gore myself but it's much more subtle than that. In a very short while you will find yourself wholeheartedly on Dexter's side and willing him not to be caught - very clever, funny, exciting stuff, with characters you come to care about.

One word of warning - very early in, first ten mins of the first episode perhaps, I got the wrong impression as there was quite a shocking scene (not gore but disturbing) - however this wasn't representative of the entire series and I heartly recommend you go for it as I consider it one of the most enjoyable series of recent years.

MrsMills · 27/11/2009 10:18

Is it being repeated on tv do you know?

piprabbit · 27/11/2009 10:25

I love this programme, truly excellent TV.
And I detest horror films etc. but don't find this gory at all.

CarGirl · 27/11/2009 10:38

big thumbs up then!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/11/2009 11:52

very good though they didnt stick to the books, which always pisses me off

Iklboo · 27/11/2009 11:54

You know you shouldn't like him but you do. Agree it doesn't stick with the books but it's really good

LouMacca · 27/11/2009 12:10

Loved Dexter series 1. Didn't enjoy the 2nd series at all though, that English actress (hmm) totally ruined it for me.

Series 3 was back on form though, excellent.

Did you know that the actor who plays Dexter is married to his characters sister (Debs) in real life?

eslaymum · 27/11/2009 12:19

Yeh,that english actress(or was it an american doing an overtly british job??
)was very irritating!!
Dexter is fab & quite hot, when is series 3 back on itv, anyone know????????

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/11/2009 13:08
