Hope no one sleeps on a water bed.

Pissed off about that - we managed about 10 minutes before i insisted it went off, as it was disturbing and horrid and ds2 was still awake...might have let ds1 continue but no way did I want those kind of images sticking in ds2's little mind.

as I like DT but couldn't let them see that.

Juillet · 15/11/2009 20:25

ds1 v disappointed. He's waited so long.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 15/11/2009 20:28

dd2 (7) held my hand from about 10 minutes in. She wanted to see the end because she assumed it would all come right.................

RTKangaMummy · 15/11/2009 20:30

I guess it depends on their age really

My DS is 14 so had already read about it in Radio Times so he knew what was coming

How old are your DC ?

DS said he wanted to watch it - the 10 mins in we turned over. will be watching it on sky + after x factor.

Juillet · 15/11/2009 20:34

6 and 2 here. ds1 always wants to see a resolution to things even if they are horrible, but he was placated with promise of buzz lightyear game on pc...thankfully.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 15/11/2009 20:37

I thought that it was very bleak - but very clever. dd2 wants to watch it again tomorrow after school - but only if I will watch it with her. (That's no hardship ) I liked the links back to previous episodes - and the trailers for Christmas look brilliant!

Saltire · 15/11/2009 20:41

Well bloody FIL rang in the middle of it to talk about bloody SIL's wedding - which isn't until July FGS. I said to DH "tell him to ring back at 8pm" but he didn't! So will have to watch it again tomorrow

hannahsaunt · 15/11/2009 20:43

Ds 1 and 2 (newly 9 and nearly 7) didn't think it was scary enough!

Not sure they got some of the subtler elements but I thought it was fab .

It will be watched a hundred times between now and Christmas knowing them ...

RTKangaMummy · 15/11/2009 20:47

we all loved it here

OP posts:
Tidey · 15/11/2009 20:50

I loved it too. Lots of and moments and nicely scary aliens. Can't wait til the Xmas one.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2009 20:54

DS watched the first ten minutes, then hid behind the sofa until the last fifteen. That seemed to work well . I'm letting him stay up and watch Doctor Who Confidential and see how the makeup and special effects were done in order to stave off bad dreams.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/11/2009 20:56

I liked the Doctor going all power crazed. And then the 'what have I done' end

Aliens were pretty good too but the 'comic book' running around clashed with the rest of it.

MollieO · 15/11/2009 20:59

Watched it with ds (5). He was very scared but still wanted to watch (through his fingers). We ended up watching a bit of Dr Who Confidential so ds could see the special effects and make up. No longer scared at all fortunately. Fab episode. I think DT is my fav Dr Who ever.

MitchyInge · 15/11/2009 21:03

why was there a commentary all the way through? it spoilt what was coming next by telling us before it happened

or is there something a bit wrong with my tv?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/11/2009 21:05

A commentary? I don't remember there being one. That sounds odd. Perhaps I'm really unobservant though.
Did you press the red button by accident?

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2009 21:06

I think your TV must be possessed...

nymphadora · 15/11/2009 21:06

I liked the Bowie Base One

Needed to see the flashes of information again to read properly.

What happened to the Captain at the end, dd2 started asking questions and I missed it?

I recognised the bloke from Neighbours too but couldnt remember his name.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/11/2009 21:07

She used her blue light gun on herself

MitchyInge · 15/11/2009 21:09

you couldn't have missed it, it was all the way through

not in the 'making of' programme that followed though, bonus to hear a bit of Ziggy Stardust in that - was also v pleased that Bowie was in it!

our red button doesn't work since I tinkered with the freesat box to get horse and country channel so don't think it was that

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2009 21:10

Or, more prosaically, you accidentally turned on the digital TV audio description for the blind feature.

But obviously that's far less likely than the demonic possession option...

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2009 21:11

I tried to explain to DH who Peter O'Brien was and he looked at me pityingly.

AvadaKedavra · 15/11/2009 21:13

I didn't get a commentary on mine.....

HerbWoman · 15/11/2009 21:13

I think Blink still gets my vote as the scariest episode (dd hasn't dared watch that yet), but this was excellent. Are we going to need to start calling him Master 2?
