Ds1 is nearly 10. He has watched all of New Who without any problems but was seriously disturbed by this. I think they crossed the line of what was reasonable for a childrens/family programme.

RTKangaMummy · 15/11/2009 21:18

all over the front cover of the Radio Times it does say ~ "THIS IS THE SCARIEST DOCTOR WHO EVER"

So I think it has been advertised as being frightening

Scary is all very well if it all comes right in the end. Having one of the main characters kill themself at the end is just too dark.

mollybob · 15/11/2009 21:32

Not as scary as Blink IMHO

very good - so looking forward to Christmas

RTKangaMummy · 15/11/2009 21:35

I don't think little children will have realised what happened to her unless it was told

I think it was done very cleverly so that adults and teenagers would realise what happened but little children would just think she went home and was watching tv ~ hence the blue flash

I agree, Blink was scarier. This one was darker.

Tidey · 15/11/2009 22:08

Blink was much scarier, my favourite episode of New Who. I still really enjoyed tonight's though. The way the water-posessed people's eyes went blue was quite spooky.

MollieO · 15/11/2009 22:11

My ds worked out exactly what she did. We had and interesting discussion about preserving history and Dr Who not being able to save everyone.

nymphadora · 15/11/2009 22:12

We didnt think it was scary. Darker maybe? but not scary.

MollieO · 15/11/2009 22:12

an interesting discussion [pedant]

Chamomile · 15/11/2009 22:14

We all loved Blink and have watched it several times on DVD. I can't imagine the kids wanting to see this again.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2009 22:15

It didn't seem to make entire sense her going into her house and shooting herself where she was going to be found. If she was so set on preserving the timeline wouldn't she have wandered off and disappeared first in order to keep things as close as possible to how they "ought" to be?

nymphadora · 15/11/2009 22:19

Yeah that was my thinking too.

Children in Need has a clip from the Christmas episode on Friday - the BBC site will apparently give an approximate time nearer the day.
