DR WHO TONIGHT!

Lonelymum · 18/06/2005 16:12

This is a small emergency in the Lonelymum household! Is anyone able to record tonight's episode of Dr Who and send it to me? I will pay whatever costs are incurred. Ds1 has gone to a scout sleepover and is missing tonight's episode (which is the last). We said we would record it for him but our VCR isn't working. I know some may say he should be able to go without one episode, but he is such a fan, he was scared to be going away for his first night camping tonight, and it is his birthday on Tuesday. I really don't want to let him down.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but the final part is repeated on BBC3 at 9pm on Friday... A much more suitable hour if (like me) you are putting the kids to bed at 7 usually...

Although I have to be honest and we tricked the kids into bed for 7pm last night so I could watch the finale! It was Grrrrrrrreat!

Was never keen on CE as the Doctor but I guess he wasn't there for my benefit. David Tennant could be good - he certainly made a good entrance last night (looks as if his Doctor might owe a little to Patrick Troughton). I still think David Thewlis would have been better though.

paolosgirl · 19/06/2005 20:37

David Tennant will be great - maybe not so manic as CE, but still very funny (and v sexy )

ScummyMummy · 19/06/2005 20:42

He was good as Cassanova so am sure he can do it.

yoyo · 19/06/2005 21:12

David Tennant looked like a schoolboy though. CE definitely did not.

Lonelymum · 20/06/2005 12:39

Did you not see David Tennant as Casanova? Very sexy and not at all like a schoolboy and I don't usually go for men younger than about 40! CE was brilliant as Dr Who but I didn't think he was sexy at all.

Bring on DT!

munz · 20/06/2005 13:19

oh no CE is sooooo sexy, not sure on this new one.

serenity · 20/06/2005 13:22

David Tennant makes my knees go wobbly

Another reason to be impatient for the christmas special

munz · 20/06/2005 13:23

is it going to be DT at xmas? whens the new series on?

Lonelymum · 20/06/2005 13:24

Munz, if you don't end up loving DT, I shall be very surprised (but not bothered as I don't want to share him!) I thought it was back at Christmas.

munz · 20/06/2005 13:24

LM - u keep him honney cos I want CE all for me!!!!

Lonelymum · 20/06/2005 13:26

Fine! I won't challenge your preference either!

OP posts:
serenity · 20/06/2005 13:29

There's a one off at christmas called The Christmas Invasion, and then I presume a new series in the new year? I know that there is definitely a second and third season. Capt Jack has to be picked up at some stage as I'm sure he's still in it!

munz · 20/06/2005 13:39

I wasn't too fussed by capt jack, althou i'm intreagued as to how they'll get rid of BP's charecter, and who will replace her.

serenity · 20/06/2005 13:43

It can't be anything to permanent, as she's signed to appear in 4 episodes of both season 2 and 3. Maybe she'll stay behind somewhere doing something hugely important

munz · 20/06/2005 13:47

oh right I thought it was only 7 eps in series 2? oh well off to buy the DVD me thinks! when r they re-runs on?

yoyo · 20/06/2005 14:49

My DDs tell me that CE returns in the third series. Anyone else heard this? Did not watch Casanova so can't comment. He just isn't my type of Dr I'm afraid.

Marina · 01/07/2005 11:14

Reviving this (I'm another Tennant refusenik, I think he's too mannered...) to find out if anyone's child is still mad keen on Doctor Who three weeks down the line?
We have to knock at ds' door at the moment as apparently he is now a Slitheen in a little boy suit and when in private unzips his head to let more air in
And we have to call him a helpful/good whatever little alien as he is not a boy any more.
And please, does anyone know if the sodding Cybermen will be making an appearance in the Christmas Special because I am thinking of having, "I really do NOT know" tattooed on my forehead.
I wish we were back in the days when all he wanted to do was wear pretty dressing up clothes

coppertop · 01/07/2005 11:28

LOL! Ds1 still calls the Slitheen "the farty aliens".

AFAIK the Cybermen are coming back in the 2nd series but I'm not sure about the Christmas special.

sorrel · 01/07/2005 11:30

yes DD still obsessed and with birthday looming on the horizon she has asked for a whole load of Dr who stuff. i was on last week and some helpful waterwitch helped me find a Dalek t-shirt!!!( thanks again)
No Mr.Tennant will not be my cup of tea either I'm afraid.

oatcake · 01/07/2005 11:31

I've always had a soft spot for Chris E, but man! I've got the hots for him since Dr Who.

Mind you, I'm looking forward to that nice new young man who was rather tasty in casanova...

Oh, sorry. No, I didn't record it...

cupcakes · 01/07/2005 11:39

Am so in love with CE again now. Just like in the Shallow Grave days. Sigh...
Got very excited when I saw him reading The Three Bears on Cbeebies bedtime hour last week.

Marina · 01/07/2005 11:41

Now I didn't care for CE until Dr Who. I am now a reformed character.
Maybe Russell T Davies' writing skills will win me over to DT also. I just wanted to give him a good slapping in "Blackpool"...his eyerolling and gurning RUINED it for me.
Thanks for the Cyberman tip coppertop. My big mistake was sharing that they were the only Dr Who villains that had me lurking behind the sofa...ds just wants to see me scramble, I suspect.

oatcake · 01/07/2005 11:42

er, yeah... I actually watched ceebeebies avidly the other night when he was on...

Prettybird · 01/07/2005 11:44

Ds (4.5) is still really in to Dr Who. He is frequently a dalek - apart from the fact he can't say "exterminate" (misses out the "m").

His favourites were the "big bats", but he also often plays out "Are you my mummy?"

Got quite upset this week when Christopher Ecclestone was reading stories on Cbeebies - with a beard
