... still a wee bit crap after all these months.

You don't have to talk really slowly to children.

And you can show a modicum of personality. Alex looks permenantly worried by life.

Am I wrong?

OP posts:
FlightHattendant · 24/08/2009 19:37

LOL you are very friendly pregnant person, non?

FlightHattendant · 24/08/2009 19:38

If I could persuade my parents to have my children I could present cbeebies.

I am probably rather too scary though.

oneopinionatedmother · 24/08/2009 19:39

number raps = Sid can give me 'One' any day....

Waybuloo - visual valium in its purest form. I love it.

i tried to get DD to do the 'yogo' but she just laughed at me instead.

but Alex/ Cerrie. Yech.

Cbeebies generally is a way to switch the toddler 'Off'.

MrsMattie · 24/08/2009 19:39

I feel overjoyed that I don't even know who they are. Great! So, I have got my life back post kids, then . There was a time when perving over Sid and Andy was my life's work.

peachygirl · 24/08/2009 19:40

What gets me is that apparently they had over 1000 people at the auditions... and Alex was the best male???

I don't mind Cerrie but I really think Pui has come out of herself and is showing some real talent in 'Show me show me' which we are loving in our house at the moment.

Housemum · 24/08/2009 19:40

I think Alex's surprised expression translates as "they're paying me for this? When will they realise I'm shite and kick me off. I wish I could do Shakespeare..."

kathyis6incheshigh · 24/08/2009 19:42

Maybe there were 970 women and only about 30 men - like the way there are hardly any men in nurseries and primary schools.

Tambajam · 24/08/2009 19:45

Cerrie seems to have warmed up and seems much more confident and at ease. Alex looks terrified. He reminds me of Big Cook Ben who seems as though his family is being held hostage by the mafia and he is being forced to perform against his will.

cyteen · 24/08/2009 19:51

Generally I don't mind Cerrie, although her simpering face at the end of the goodnight song does my head in. Alex, on the other hand, is wetter than a haddock's overcoat.

Number raps are the best

Like Pui but Chris is just too wide-eye wacky for my taste, like he's angling for Mr Maker's crown.

BrightShinySun · 25/08/2009 08:09

Honestly do people actually like Chris and Pui? They are AWFUL, I have only had the joy(?) of CBeebies for a couple of months so didn't realise Alex and Cerrie were so new. They're not great but just about bearable(sp?)good god if I'd had to put up with Chris and Pui I don't think I could cope.

They are so tragic and old and always trying so so hard to be entertaining it bugs me that show me show me actually appeals to dd1. Chris is by far the worst ever!

However ROFL at Alex being like Big Cook Ben whose family are being held by the mafia!

MrsKitty · 25/08/2009 08:26

Oh brightshinysun - the problem is you've only seen them in a Show Me Show Me context...If you'd been around for Chris & Pui doing the links you'd be able to appreciate how truly irritating Cerrie & Alex really are .

BrightShinySun · 25/08/2009 08:59

LOL I don't doubt that MissKitty! Like I say I have only been enduring watching CBeebies for a couple of months!

cyteen · 25/08/2009 09:33

Big Cook Ben looks like he's performing against his will in the sense that he has the air of a tired semi-rehab'd substance abuser doing community service to pay off his debts (NOTE: I do not actually think he is a substance abuser or in debt).

He and Small also look like they hate each other and spit every word out through gritted teeth.

FlightHattendant · 25/08/2009 09:49

Yes and the fake laugh

It suddenly occurred to me the freudian depths of 'Big cook' and his 'little friend, small'

perhaps best not to go there, hey.

lucykate · 25/08/2009 09:54

sid & andy are ace, they should bring back sue though. we loved sue in our house.

midnightexpress · 25/08/2009 10:00

Jeezo, if Chris and Poi are old there's no hope for an old bag like me.

Chris is such a wannabe - when they did the links he used to whip his musical instruments out at every opportunity. And yet he's still not been promoted to the next step up the greasy TV pole (nature programmes, I reckon) - even Jelly has got in ahead of him onto Springwatch.

Have yet to see them in Showmeshowme.

BrightShinySun · 25/08/2009 11:32

LOL I didn't mean old as in old midnightexpress I meant more...tired...out of date?!! I think your wannabe description sums it up nicely actually!!
PS Avoid showmeshowme, its totally crapola!!

LevitatingCopy · 25/08/2009 11:57

Cerrie and Alex have grown on me a bit, I don't find them irritating except when they're doing their weird sketches involving hilarious accents.

I like the way they have normalised Cerrie's arm and not tried to hide it at all, in fact I think there are more and more close-ups as time goes on.

I am rather embarrassed at how excited I was to see Chris and Pui back on Show Me Show Me. But my enthusiasm wasn't unfounded as DD loves it, and it keeps her enthralled for aaaaaages - bliss. As does Waybuloo - AND she gets some exercise while she does the yoga - sorted.

giveloveachance · 25/08/2009 12:07

yes vote here for for chris and pui at least they looked and sounded happy in their work. And who wouldn't be doing that job - money for old rope!!!!

Think Sid is fab!!

AppleTreeWick · 25/08/2009 15:07

Top of the Pops in our house (der der der de de der) are Justin closely followed by Chris & Pui. Whom we love with passion.

Our worse offender is Nina & the morons. I have carefully trained my 4 year old to snear disdainfully at her when she washes up on our screen.

But Cerrie & Alex are pretty p.poor it has to be said.

cyteen · 25/08/2009 18:53

I have a slightly unhinged dislike for Squiggler or whatever the fuck it's called.

grin · 25/08/2009 19:34

Did you know that Big Cook Ben and Little Cook Small are actually stand up comedians who have also presented on some channel like Nuts TV or similar? Oh and Chris off Doodle Do (swoon) is also a stand up comedian. But he makes me go a bit wobbly and giggly, unlike Big and Small...

DownyEmerald · 25/08/2009 19:35

Ooh I haven't seen show me show me - only see Bedtime hour - we still miss Chris and Pui in this house.

Cerrie has relaxed into it and is charming, Alex has obviously taken on board some feedback, but is still not really doing it for me - tho dd seems to be oblivious!

The goodnight song was recorded very early on so is C and A at their worst!

cyteen · 25/08/2009 19:55

I did know that grin. I also know that Ed (of Ed and Oucho CBBC 'fame') is a stand up comedian. With a colourful private life. Allegedly.

MamaMimi · 25/08/2009 20:22

I'm pretty sure Ben and Small also presented a Big Brother's Big Mouth show last year when they had different guest presenters on each show!

I won't be able to watch cbeebies with dd2 (10 wks) in the future if Ceri and Alex are still on it cos of the associations with morning sickness I have from watching with dd1.

In fact dd1 hasn't watched any cbeebies since the middle of my pregnancy as it made me feel really nauseas and it was at the time that C & A just started! Thank goodness she is now 5 and likes watching other things like Total Wipeout and Britain's Got Talent - no better but at least they don't make me feel sick remind me of morning sickness
