bad hygiene on Come Dine With Me

I'm afraid I have to have a rant about bad hygiene on "Come Dine with Me". Some people taste whatever's cooking in the pan with a spoon, then put it straight back in the pan - yuck! Last week this guy took a big mouthful from the spoon, then licked it again and put it back in the pan!! And some of them can be right food snobs!! Rant over

I love this show. I have it ony Sky+ and watch it during the day when I really should be doing Mummy type things.

They get £150 budget for food I think. Some contestents must end up in profit on this. There was one woman who did the whole thing for £10 if I recall correctly. What a great plan - make a profit on your evening and the eat out for free the rest of the week and then maybe get £1000 at the end of it all!

I love this show too - also Sky+ it and watch when I can! Yes the hygiene isn't great - I'm surprised the commentator doesn't comment more on this! He is so funny - apparently he is a comedien. Speaking of hygiene, the same 4 people as the lady that didn't serve booze was this really cocky guy who went on about how brilliant a cook he was, and on the evening he was really rubbish, anyway, he dropped food on the floor but instead of throwing it away, he put it on the plate and served it!

This has got to be my fave thing on the TV at the mo and I regularly belly laugh to the comments made by narrator. Just watched all five episodes of Sat and last week-very different bunch of people! Out of the London lot the Iranian lady deserved to win the most not only for her food but for everything else too-personality, wit, normality etc etc. The West Ealing chap reminded me alot like Ricky Gervais-the others were all snobby knobs!!

discoball · 06/09/2009 22:31

Agree with you, dropinthe..... here's to next week!!!

We watched last week's omnibus with the "Silver Fox", the silly flirty girl, the knob who still lived with his parents etc.

Unfortunately we had to miss the last two episodes so didn't see who won - can anybody let me know?

dropinthe · 09/09/2009 12:08

The Iranian lady-deserverdly!!

I'm watching on more 4 (can't remember the time cos it's sky+ed) and c4 at 6.30pm

Butkin · 09/09/2009 15:42

Its on every day on Channel 4 and then on Saturday it they show the whole weeks episodes back to back on More4 (I think)

CDWM is addictive. Many a Sunday afternoon has been wasted with me and DD watching 5 episodes back to back. It's wonderful, the sneering commentary is wonderful.

The first one I watched was based in Wales - one of the contestants was a blonde air hostess with the most crazy grin, like the joker out of Batman. There was also a posh welsh bloke who had vaguely SM photos of him and his wife on the wall, and an old boyo who liked his tipples. Hysterical. Me and dd watched it in gleeful horror and have been fans ever since.

I remember meringue lady and pocket cheese man. Genius.

Have only seen one celebrity version, with Tamara Beckwith and some others I can't remember.

akhems · 09/09/2009 19:35

Thanks butkin... but my episodes don't seem to match the ones you all talk about, lol

discoball · 10/09/2009 23:38

Is anyone watching this week's with the snobby mare who sneered at the can-can girls and the man's daughter playing guitar? There's just no pleasing some people! Quite like the older lady, I bet she's a great laugh and the younger dark haired girl seems really fun as well and there's a refreshing honesty about her... hope the NHS guy wins it - roll on tomorrow!!
