He looks like a public schoolboy

He looks like a public schoolboy

SammyK · 21/07/2009 17:09

Maybe his trousers are rolled up to stop them going soggy on the beach between takes? {hopeful}

I will really really miss DT. He is mine and DS's doctor, everyone has one and he is ours.

I am awaiting judgement on the new doctr though until I see at least one episode with him in it. IMO they always seem to make good judgements in casting, Catherine Tate for example - I thought she would have me changing channels mid episode but she was great!

retiredgoth2 · 21/07/2009 17:11

....he looks like a pageboy, persuaded into his cutesy suit with the promise of Haribo Tomorrow.

JackieNo · 21/07/2009 17:15

Perhaps he's got a hairbobble round the bottom of his trousers

squilly · 21/07/2009 17:15

Sorry, but Chris Eccy and Billie Piper will take some beating in my books. DD likes the look of the new assistant though. She looks v striking. Just hope she's better than Martha. I never took to the wooden girl or her wooden mum...Trish was o.k. though and I reckon Reggie could have been good fun too. Nobody was quite as real as Rose's mum though.

Roll on the new series so we can know just what we're slagging off

TwoHot · 21/07/2009 17:57

I was worried he would look like something out of the Matrix, all Emo and flappy coat. This is better than I imagined, tho that isnt saying much I suppose...

SoupDragon · 21/07/2009 18:32

"...in the 1960s" Ah, that'll be it. Too young.

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 21/07/2009 22:14

I was worried they'd make him look "Emo" too.

jackieno - I have no real knowledge on that, it's just a hunch...

To be fair, previous Doctors have looked a bit "public school" too. Davison, for one.

I always think the Doctor shouldn't look "styled" or "costumed". That was where they went wrong with the later outfits in the 80s. He's someone for whom clothes are not really a preoccupation. They're just a practicality. He just pulls on the first thing he finds, whether it matches or not and whether or not it looks silly. That's why this outfit is fine.

Pruneurs · 21/07/2009 22:34

Cor he's a bit young, isn't he?
Those cheekbones, oof
I am reserving judgement, he looks a bit not-right but he might be brilliant

TwoHot · 22/07/2009 10:30

Bet thats the first thing he says when he looks in the mirror! Was it Tennant or Eccleston who mentioned his teeth?

TheFallenMadonna · 22/07/2009 10:33

I am at the 'Science teacher-esque'.

Geography perhaps...

sockmonkey · 22/07/2009 15:34

He looks like he will have a jolly adventure with some pesky aliens then back to the TARDIS for cake and lashings of ginger beer.

JackieNo · 22/07/2009 16:13

lol sockmonkey

UnquietDad · 22/07/2009 16:29

I always thought the Davison era team should have had K-9, then they really would have been the famous Five in space, with lashings of ginger beer.

Doctor = solid, dependable Julian
Tegan = feisty, mouthy George
Nyssa = slightly wet Anne
Adric = Dick (obviously)
K-9 = Timmy

Ripeberry · 22/07/2009 20:58

Well it's not as bad as Colin Baker's outfit, that was a real shocker . Still have nightmares!

ReallyReally · 24/07/2009 13:21

oh crikey

someone went and reminded me about Eccleston's teeth

off for a lie down www.gallifrey.tv/media/images/chris.jpg

Barrowman/Tennant

I WANT TO GO TO COMIC-CON stamps foot

(Whole bit - it was intro to showing Planet of the Dead. They've had the DW panel, quite a few spoilers for Tennant's finale.

edam · 26/07/2009 23:01

I want to chain DT to the Tardis, frankly. Snot fair and all that.

Baby doc clearly doesn't have the confidence to tell the wardrobe dept to eff off.

UQD, enough with the hints, please assume I'm a little hard of thinking and spell it out!

DollyPS · 30/07/2009 21:38

You actually like DT then the skinny bugger he is all bones and no meat folks and hasnt changed at all over the years in my book. I think he has got thinner as well not a good look on a guy I have to add.

great actor though and he brought DW alive for us after Chris left the git. As I thought oh no here he comes and he'll be crap but he was excellant.

I am reserving judgment though on Matt still trying to get my lad used to him as he is obsessed with ANYTHING Dr Who.

We had Chris then David now another one but they did change them before as I remember Jon and then Tom and they both did fine in it but Tom's teeth were a bit scary thats for sure.

Also there wardrobe was a hoot even back then so I think Matts is fine for being the Dr.

Pixel · 30/07/2009 22:58

Anyone going to this on saturday? They are going to have the TARDIS, K9 (dd's favourite), Daleks and a Cyberman.

DollyPS · 31/07/2009 00:46

You going at all Pixel as I live a bit out from that, we are ment to be going to Kelvingrove the BBC exhibit of Dr Who.

I do have a 12 year old obsessed with all of Dr Who bless him at times but not when he wants to watch all the episodes back to back in one day now that is too much LOL!!!!!
