Well that's my point Dittany, he baits her, but it was ever thus even on Im a Celeb. I remember thinking that they were both so insecure around each other.

izyboy · 12/07/2009 00:47

Well, perhaps if you have a mind like a steel trap Dittany you think you can 'move on'. Thing is it does bite you on the arse later - hence why I think she suffers from depression. However they probably are better off apart.

BitOfFun · 12/07/2009 00:48

I heard about her having a miscarriage on the radio this morning. It said something along the lines of she went through it in secret and it happened just before the marathon, but she said nothing and ran anyway because she didn't want to let the charities down.

It sounded like they were reading from St Katie's press release and doing her PR's damage limitation strategy. Call me cynical. I'm not sure what I think of her tbh, but I do think she is doing her best to play the media.

izyboy · 12/07/2009 00:49

Thay both are BOF.

BitOfFun · 12/07/2009 00:52

Yup. They must think we're stupid. Or that we give a shit.

bigchris · 12/07/2009 07:04

i wwanted Piers to ask her what was going to happen to the kids, if she was scared she'd lose them

buktus · 12/07/2009 07:55

The bit i dont get is their last show on itv2 when they were running the marathon, they went to the hotel the night before and she had on skin tight trousers and was due to have a sports massage but exclaimed to everyone she didnt have knickers on. How can you not have knickers on a few days after having a d+c and when she was supposed to be bleeding loads, and you cant use tampons after one either

tegan · 12/07/2009 09:28

I have lost all respect for Katie by doing this interview. All she did was play up to the media, she only did this to justify the bad press she has been having. I really don't blame Pete for leaving her and i would support him all the way to getting full custody of the kids including Harvey.

Ronaldinhio · 12/07/2009 10:11

I'm sorry, why exactly should she lose her children?

You'd back Pete all the way?

You don't know them at all

Not at all

What a grotesque thing to comment upon and why would it become one or the other ffs

Frasersmum123 · 12/07/2009 11:22

What a ridiculous thing to say - Pete will be on 'This Morning' tomorrow doing exactly the same thing. You cant comment on a situation you know nothing about.

Im sure Pete will be happy for the support though

kittycatty · 12/07/2009 12:06

buktus i was just going to say the same!!!

I watched that on thursday, and as others have said she weed behind a car during the race!

I did used to like her, not anymore.

bubblagirl · 12/07/2009 12:11

i also wandered about the bleeding really heavy yet had to go find knickers and was virtually naked with legs up having massage day before race also going on about taking laxatives surely that wouldn't help either

the interview for me felt fake i have full sympathy as she clearly had miscarriage but whether it was at that time of marathon i don't know it doesn't add up

also im sure she was drinking few weeks before in the programme she would have been pregnant then and she and pete had huge hangovers

spicemonster · 12/07/2009 12:21

That miscarriage story doesn't add up. They don't tell you 'we're going to have to terminate', they don't say they'll do some bloods if they can't find a heartbeat or that they are a bit confused by high HCG levels if they can't find a heartbeat. She really should have researched missed miscarriages a bit more before coming up with that story.

Frasersmum123 · 12/07/2009 12:30

I have had a blood test when they couldnt find a heartbeat because there was some confusion over size and whether a heartbeat would be detectable yet.

I think some of you are being over critical and harsh. Maybe she hasnt spouted out a perfect story but if she did then people would say she was too cold and went into too much detail. I can also understand why she didnt want to let people down, because she would have got slated for that too.

spicemonster · 12/07/2009 12:35

Were you 10 weeks pregnant though frasersmum? Still doesn't add up. They don't call an ERPC a termination. To be blunt, a termination is the ending of a viable foetus. If her foetus had died, it wasn't a termination.

I can't bear people washing their dirty laundry in public in any case. How horrendous for her children to have every spat and disagreement between their parents neatly served up by them for the nation's amusement. Yuck.

Frasersmum123 · 12/07/2009 12:38

I thought I was 11 weeks, however the foetus was showing about 5, so there was some confusiona s to whether I was less far along than I thought.

I think her tears were genuine and I feel for her. People are picking apart all that she said, and maybe she has changed a few things around in her head etc, thats what something upsetting like a MMC will do to you.

I do agree that making it so public was a mistake, but having said that she has done everything else in public, so I suppose she feels the need to carry on.

DarrellRivers · 12/07/2009 12:55

If you make something like this public , then you get the whole world picking over your story and preying on it.
Saying 'has she made it up, has she bent it to suit her story'
It destroys your karma
And worst of all, makes your children another commercial product, even a first trimester foetus

And yes, termination is only used in respect of an abortion.
Never a miscarriage, missed or otherwise

beanieb · 12/07/2009 13:01

Sorry - but you are wrong. Even if the Foetus is dead the medical profession will call it a termination or an abortion. It is probably not right for them to use those words to a patient but that is what it technically is. If she was more than 10 weeks and had a surgical procedure to remove the foetus then it is the exact same method theyuse when terminating a viable pregnancy.

Some people manage to face up to what is happening very quickly when they are told they have a missed misscarriage. When you are first told it's an awful awful shock, particularly if the baby is something you have really wanted. Some women deal with it differently and manage to accept things and move on without becoming distraught etc.

Having said that I don't really see how she could have wanted to run if she was bleeding heavily. Then again my experience was that I bled heavily for only a few days and I wasn't soaking pads through on the hour so that side of it turned out to be quite managable.

beanieb · 12/07/2009 13:02

"If you make something like this public , then you get the whole world picking over your story and preying on it." are you saying that women shouldn't talk openly about their experiences of Miscarriage/abortion?

DarrellRivers · 12/07/2009 13:06

No bb.
They are different terms
The surgical removal of a miscarriage is an ERPC-an evacuation of retained products of conception
An abortion is a TOP-a termination of pregnancy

They will be put accordingly on the consent form

beanieb · 12/07/2009 13:11

yes, but technically they are exactly the same procedure.

As is the Medical treatment of missed miscarriage. When I had mine I was given the same pills as I would have been given if I had chosen a termination.

However, I don't really understand why people are discussing this. I am guessing that people are suggesting she is lying and had a termination rather than a miscarriage? Pretty mean if you ask me.

I know, they are the technically same procedure, but they are definitely called different things.
I consented patients for both procedures
Surely it is extremely important that they are called different things as the starting point is so different
