Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 09/07/2009 22:30

Yes where is the Doctor - on his holidays?

Tis great though

bronze · 09/07/2009 22:31

I think it does two things to me. Reminds me that there are twats like that in the world and also of those dreams where you just can't protect your children ( I get the same feeling reading about cases where children have been unfairly taken away by ss). I've had a lot of those dreams recently and it gives me the same odd feeling in the pit of my stomach

UnquietDad · 09/07/2009 22:31

That Denise from the cabinet - she'd fit in well on some of the Education threads round here...

PheasantPlucker · 09/07/2009 22:32

I.am.traumatised..........

bronze · 09/07/2009 22:32

I actually prefer the idea of letting it go ahead and have natural selection and that it would actually help the human race (except of course I would be terrified for my lot)

edam · 09/07/2009 22:33

Peachy, I suspected the 'bottom' 10 per cent thing might make parents of vulnerable children feel rather sick.

OK, it's only fiction, but it's fiction that plays on something very real about our society.

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 09/07/2009 22:34

I think what was disturbing about it, was the strong suspicion that if it were real, these are exactly the attitudes our rulers would have.

Thank goodness it's not real...

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 09/07/2009 22:36

I wondered if they were going to go one step further and send the sick and disabled. I sort of held my breath at that point.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 09/07/2009 22:36

Sorry DG, feeling a hit- vulnerable. been swearing at DP (aaftpunk not dh) on another thread also.

I considered startin an Mn thread asking if any kids were disposable, would it be ones like mine but I can't. I know thre answer anyway- the idea occurred to me before they said it on the FICTIONAL programme so it wuld to anyone else.

After all, 10% of kids means 90% of aprents watching it don;t have them; then there's famillies like mine who ahve 3 at least and yes actually my family is a burden on the state and frankly people would be better off if we didnt exist in many ways.

I know that, I dont like knoewing it but I do.

Right, need wine.Good job not on last night, happy birthday thatd be!!!!!

bronze · 09/07/2009 22:38

chin up Peachy
remember that they didn't want it to get out as the people wouldn't agree with their tactics and would want to go to war. Well I like to think thats what would happen in rl too

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 22:39

it felt very final solution to me, watching that. horrid.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 09/07/2009 22:40

I reckon tha prents here would be chivvying ds1 into the bus in their little Boden outfits smiling at their dear dc's as they carry their books into school without the pesky disabled ones

Mind, we're in a church school, maybe we'd be overlooked....... sure there's some big council estates around here somewhere

edam · 09/07/2009 22:41

saggar - me too, was actually holding my breath thinking 'please don't actually say special schools'...

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 09/07/2009 22:41

Aitch thats what DH said, ecactly

But then i'd be lacking at least two children under that regime as well. Which is probably why I get so irate on holocaust denial threads as well!

2shoes · 09/07/2009 22:47

peachy check ot sn there is a thread there

Ninjacat · 09/07/2009 22:50

My fav quote "If you cant dispose of 10% of the uk's child population, what are league tables for"

Fantastic writing

Ripeberry · 09/07/2009 22:54

Poor Ianto. 2010 is going to be empty without Torchwood or DT in Dr Who, been a good 5yrs anyhow.

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 22:55

do you know i miissed that on the show, i thought someone just said it on here. it's very cruel. anyway there's NO WAY me and dh will let our kids go off on a govt sponsored surprise medical camp, we've decided.

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 22:57

i've really liked gwen this time round, much to my surprise. i think she's benefitted from having her husband around, lets her goofier side come out. normally i find her pretty much insufferable.

2shoes · 09/07/2009 22:57

AitchTwoOh I have this crazy picture of all parents cancelling residential field trips now

JackBauerDoodleDoes · 09/07/2009 22:57

I didn't like that.
Just caught up on iplayer as Dh came home halfway through and makes stupid unhelpful comments throughout.

Am a big mess of weepy tears now.

JackBauerDoodleDoes · 09/07/2009 23:01

Agree with you Aitch, I stopped watching it as Gwen was so irritating, but I like her in this one.
Poor Ianto.

Housemum · 09/07/2009 23:09

In the next episode, I'm guessing that Gwen's "this is how it happens" tape might be for the Doctor? Though the world can't end here as the Doctor went to the end of the world last series didn't he?

Love the league tables bit.

Aitch - glad you agree with me on Gwen!

Nasty woman is a bit too cartoon like for m liking - straight out of Tomb Raider.

I'm exhausted now and the ironing's not done - the sign of good TV to me is when I can't iron watching it! (I was stood for about 20 minutes hoding the iron before I wondered wtf I was doing and sat down)

Can't see how they will get out of this hole now - roll on tomorrow...

TheOddOne · 09/07/2009 23:11

That was VERY uncomfortable viewing .

AppleTreeWick · 09/07/2009 23:14

nooooooooo ianto nooooooooo I was so happy for him bouncing off in the nice sports car with Cpt J to save the day, finally a full member of the team...about to show you unbelievers just what special talents he has then...noooooooo

resurrection mitten anyone? apparently they come in pairs.
