biffandchip · 16/04/2009 20:02

Me!

ChippyMinton · 16/04/2009 20:02

I will, now that you have reminded me! Ta

biffandchip · 16/04/2009 20:04

Apparently she's using it as a holiday let. Call me cynical but it must be nice to part bankroll your investments courtesy of your contacts at C4 now that no-one seems to be re-locating x3

Goober · 16/04/2009 20:06

She grates my shit!

LadyOfWaffle · 16/04/2009 20:08

I wish she'd get on with the programme - 10 mins of what she will be doing. [moan]

It's on. I'm on 'puter & thinking about doing some knitting at the same time (multi tasking)

LadyOfWaffle · 16/04/2009 20:09

With a Victorian cheese grater I hope Goober!

hmmm.....am usually a big fan of Kirstie's but not sure how serious I can take this programme. Shame, cos I was really looking forward to it.

expatinscotland · 16/04/2009 20:15

Oh, yes, it's so cheap to make your own dinnerware.

My mum does this, as a hobby. It isn't cheap because you have to use someone's kiln unless you're really into it/a professional because kilns aren't cheap.

expatinscotland · 16/04/2009 20:19

Oh, I see.

'I get my dinnerware created by a world-famous potter, but you can just go to IKEA'.

LadyOfWaffle · 16/04/2009 20:20

I like that sort of stuff, v. nice

OP posts:
TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 16/04/2009 20:20

My sis is a ceramic artist and people are always surprised at how much items cost. But as expat says, producing the stuff is expensive and of course then paying for individual, handpainted designs.

BTW, don't like Cath Kidston's kitchen - cupboards look very non-descript. Am v disappointed!

expatinscotland · 16/04/2009 20:21

Exactly, Real, and as she said, he loses 5% of what he makes and he's a world-class professional at it.

My mum still loses a lot of stuff and she's a hobbyist.

expatinscotland · 16/04/2009 20:22

the clay's not cheap, the paints aren't cheap, the glazes aren't cheap.

biffandchip · 16/04/2009 20:24

Marvellous, my shabby shit chic look of mismatched stuff is now oh so fashionable. What really gets me is that people like kirtsy (who I don't mind) must really think we all live in co-ordinated houses and don't have items of sentimentality or bits we just keep cos we like it/are too skint to go out and buy a new set of plates cos one has broken

sazzerbear · 16/04/2009 20:24

Agree with TheReal re: Kirstie. Recreating the chabby chic look in a cosy cottage a little difficult for some people to swallow when some are losing their homes! (OK, OK, I know its a bit of escapism before I get flailed!!)

biffandchip · 16/04/2009 20:25

kirtsy? obv kirsty.

biffandchip · 16/04/2009 20:28

and am also v disappointed with the Kidston's kitchen

superfrenchie1 · 16/04/2009 20:44

oh! kidston kitchen SO disappointing! and did you SEEE kirstie's parents' home? do people really live in humungous mansions like that?? gah

i quite like some of this stuff though

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 16/04/2009 20:44

am PMSL at Kirstie telling interior design/sewing woman she was displaying "cats bum face"

Pinkjenny · 16/04/2009 20:45

Hasn't she lost weight? Am gobsmacked at her parents house. Isn't her father an Earl or something?

spikemomma · 16/04/2009 20:46

Have you SEEN her parents house mansion!

LadyOfWaffle · 16/04/2009 20:47

I laughed at the cats bum face too
