Anyone watching

OP posts:
WynkenBlynkenandNod · 17/04/2009 09:24

Thank goodness Mrs Cat Bum was talking through her er backside ! I'm out in the sticks really and have no idea of the price of cushions in London so nearly fell off my chair when she said that.

wychbold · 17/04/2009 09:35

WB&N: have you never seen Harry Enfield's I saw you coming ?

expatinscotland · 17/04/2009 09:41

I'm in the sticks, too.

I don't see the point of throw cushions like that, either.

onehitwonder · 17/04/2009 09:53

DH and I had fun discussing just how much we could save on our flower arranging bill by doing it ourselves. Well that's our credit crunch issues all sorted then - phew .

We were also considering how to incorporate soft furnishing in our (galley) kitchen. DH suggested nailing a cushion (home made of course) to the ceiling. Do you think that is what Kirsty had in mind?

ivymae · 17/04/2009 10:12

It is Harry Enfields 'I Saw You Coming.'!
Hang on, perhaps Harry would have been a better presenter, failing that Katie Price or Andre or Jordan whoever she is now. She'd go with synthetics-'That's your manmade fibres.' She'd have Bollocks in gold letters on her kitchen wall.

knittingmum · 17/04/2009 13:24

Anyone know if Kirsties programme is repeated any time??

poshsinglemum · 17/04/2009 14:53

I bought some fab cushions for a fiver from our local shop in the sale. It would cost far more to buy a sewing machine and the material. Plus- I hate sewing machines- they are scary.
I think that the idea of the show is fab but I think showing that ginormous mansion was a mistake. It's alienating.

Upwind · 17/04/2009 14:57

saw about thirty seconds of this

  • she moaned about "our obsession" with cheap mass produced glassware

is she really unaware that her audience can't afford handblown crystal?

Does anyone take that patronising idiot seriously?

noddyholder · 17/04/2009 15:01

A lot of dust gatherers in that room though Would need a cleaner...

sazzerbear · 17/04/2009 15:12

OMG just watched it...what a bizarre programme!
Cath Kidston's kitchen v average and disappointing - Cath came across as being a bit wet, I thought - so much for her pearls of wisdom "do what you like/don't worry about anyone else"?!
The Potter bloke reminded me of Paul Nicholas from "Just Good Friends"!
Feeling slightly envious (esp of massive Aga) - I would like to be farting around nesting rather than trying to entertain a 2 yo who is currently slowly destroying any sense of tidiness and order!
Kirstie does look fab though, has lost a lot of weight

TwoIfBySea · 17/04/2009 18:26

I watched this in despair, I do all that crap, making my own cushion covers and all. Just because I like to though. And I cross-stitch and have just started knitted.

God I'm totally naff now!

Bah!

Still wouldn't have those WOW letters within viewing distance from my home though. Did she get them out a skip because I would imagine they would be thrown out from somewhere?

HeadFairy · 17/04/2009 18:28

I'd be soooo tempted to remove the first W in Kirsty's kitchen

Agree though, silly rubbish. Nothing practical by way of advice at all. Loved the glass blowing but lets face it, we're not all going to go out and blow our own glasses to save a few bob because... er... it's very expensive.

I liked the flower arranging though. I've always liked doing flowers and I liked the sellotape trick.

Still, silly twaddle. Must prefer the out and out brashness of "I live in Britain's best home"

mrsmaidamess · 17/04/2009 18:29

I don't even think that was Cath Kidstons house.

It was too modern, too plain.

It looked like they'd just shoved most of the stock from the King's Road branch in a box and laid it out on anyone's old table. I can't really believe she uses ONLY her own designs

expatinscotland · 17/04/2009 18:35

I did cry out with sadness when I saw that perfectly good mirror disco ball in the skip and she didn't take it!

Oh, man, I am jonesing for a mirror disco ball.

sazzerbear · 17/04/2009 18:38

and the pottery bit just reminded me of Ghost-could not take it seriously!!

Podrick · 17/04/2009 18:52

Expat - jonesing - now that's a word you don't hear much in Blighty

southeastastra · 17/04/2009 18:54

ha i wondered why she left the mirrorball too. though the sink looked quite useable too. obviously people with too much cash to start with.

expatinscotland · 17/04/2009 19:05

It was one of those larger mirror balls, too, Podrick.

I was soooo bummed she couldn't see the good in that and took the boring mirror instead.

sazzerbear · 17/04/2009 19:12

at least with the mirror, she was doing her bit to save the planet as she reminded us! I have never seen anything of interest in a skip, the ones she comes across must be magic ones!

Podrick · 17/04/2009 19:52

My kitchen is so small Kirsty probably couldn't fit into it even with her new slimline bod

sazzerbear · 17/04/2009 20:02

less room = less room to clean though!

ruddynorah · 17/04/2009 20:16

oh my good god i just watched this.

i feel her and nigella ought to start doing a wanky show together about some such wanky wankola.

sazzerbear · 17/04/2009 20:20

do you think she's full of it or just v naive to put her name to such a show?

mrsmaidamess · 17/04/2009 20:21

I thik she thinks she's doing a good job but is sooo far removed from reality she doesn't know how patronising she came across at times.
