Looks like it's going to be really good.
I saw one of the lead actresses, forgot her name, on Richard & Judy today. Looks fab. 4 actors and everyone else they use, lawyers doctors etc are real lawyers, doctors etc. There is an outline but a lot is unscripted and made like a documentary/fly on wall.
One of the couples (2 of the 4 actual actors) are told that someone will ring the doorbell at x timne but they don't know what they will be told so. Graet idea and gripping storyline.

2 couples, one white, one black, both going through IVF. Black womans baby is implanted in white woman.

What would have been the legal position if the Mayfields had terminated the pregnancy? (which of course they wouldn't have done).

Me & DH argued all the way through the prog. He thought that the Bridges should not have been told about the baby & that having had to go through the pregnancy and birth Mrs Mayfield should have been allowed to keep him. He then said it would have been better if the pregnancy had been terminated as soon as the mistake was discovered... but being a couple who'd spent so long trying to have a baby I think that would have been worse for Mrs M's mental state.

I also wondered- like Saadia- whether the clinic would have told either couple had both been the same colour...

Clearly the race issue swung the outcome, so I was wondering what would have happened if both families had been white or black?

I agreed with the verdict, not because of the race issue but because of the fact that I feel very strongly that, unless someone is cruel or negligent, the right to bring up your own child - your own genetic offspring - is a basic, fundamental inalienable human right. You shouldn't be denied that right because of a random mistake.

If I was in the position of the white mother I would hope that, however attached I had become to the child, I would accept that it would be extremely cruel to deprive the genetic parents of their child.
