Ipanema are you there ?

Hooray - when, when does it start properly?

Love this - I thought it was always in May, but perhaps I am wrong? Tis the only programme DH will watch with me.

Every year we think it can't get better - but it always does!

Love Margaret too. She is eminently unruffled and sensible - the ideal person to have around in a crisis. Excellent Head Girl material!

I'm hoping it will still be on Wednesdays.

MargaretMountford · 07/03/2009 12:58

no date yet, but is being flagged up on tv, so must be imminent !

Think it might be 25th March?

Only prob. is Ds (13) is increasingly admiring of Surallen's success - especially the fact the he has no formal qualifications.

Not a v.good influence pre-GCSE choices.

MargaretMountford · 07/03/2009 13:49

hope it is 25th March !! (which is a Wednesday Unquiet)

Just saw March 25th advertised on 'tinterweb somewhere - along with the chosen names of the 2 teams.

(But won't say what they are as I always think that's such a class bit when they spend ages coming up with those killer team names.)

UnquietDad · 07/03/2009 15:32

I predict "Thrust" and "Dynamic".

UnquietDad · 07/03/2009 15:36

And also that someone, in defiance of mathematics, will declare their intention to "give 120%".

In fact, there ought to be an Apprentice Bingo or Apprentice Drinking Game. Points/drinks for:

  • The one who says "work hard and play hard"
  • One with a braying laugh
  • Woman tossing hair as she walks
  • A "don't suffer fools gladly"
  • A percentage of effort quoted in excess of 100
  • Picking on Token Northerner
  • SrAlan saying "you lot are a right shower"
  • SrAlan saying "what the ell was you playin' at?"
  • Tearfulness
  • Hugs
  • Editing of bitchy comments into scenes of harmony
  • The obvious "schoolboy mistake which will cost them the task"
foxinsocks · 07/03/2009 15:50

like you merrylegs, it's one of the very very few programmes that dh and I watch together!

I know what you mean merrylegs with the lack of formal qualificatoins thing but I think it's good for children to see people like that succeed tbh. Surallen is never short of pointing out how much hard work it took .

Merrylegs · 07/03/2009 20:31

Definitely points for the one who thinks that 'telling it like it is' to people's faces just makes them really honest and upfront. (As oppose to rude and bullish.)

Am liking 'Thrust' very muchly.

How about 'Urge'?

Now that's what I'm talking about.

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 21:49

ooh just saw the advert for this

Merrylegs · 08/03/2009 09:44

Ooh or double points for the one with 'Motivational Tourettes'.

He ('tis always a 'bloke') shouts 'C'mon!" or "F-ng Brilliant!' or 'Yesss!' at random intervals, pumping air with fist, while Margaret looks on with a face that could curdle custard.

(Good point about hard work, Fox - in fact, GCSEs soft option compared to School of Hard Knocks - says Merrylegs in an elderly way)

She's already used the steely stare.

squeaver · 12/03/2009 21:24

Oh I was hoping someone else was watching!

Loving your work so far, MM.

The problem the boys have got is that "collectables" are usually supported by TV e.g. Ben 10. the kids won't know who these characters are.

Fiona Phillips looks like she's swallowed a wasp, as usual.

Hulababy · 12/03/2009 21:26

I think the boys have the winning idea.

It's like the Crazy Bones idea. Low production cost, low selling price and collectibles.

Started a thread in products earlier asking what MNetters would chose as their prodicts.

megcleary · 12/03/2009 21:44

aw i like the girls one

foxinsocks · 12/03/2009 21:48

omg the girls one looks awful lol

foxinsocks · 12/03/2009 21:54

I think JR is going to need slapping at some stage

poppy34 · 12/03/2009 21:55

really!! yay - unquiet dad that is a brilliant idea re the bingo.

squeaver · 12/03/2009 21:56

You see, Sralan and me are as one.

foxinsocks · 12/03/2009 21:56
