I did get a bit emotional when Bridget died.
BUT - Ohhh My God!!!!! (rant alert)
I wish that the producers would get their medical stuff even vaguely correct!!!!!!!!!
When Bridget was having her operation, she had a clear oxygen mask on her face - so was getting no anaesthetic whatsoever. None. And she didn't have an endotracheal tube in her throat (what you have when you can't breathe for yourself and need ventilation) BUT there was a ventilator working (the rhythmic hiss and click sound).
For major surgery like that, she would have been intubated and on a ventilator - not just on oxygen. And there would have been a screen up over her chest, to reduce the risk of the anaesthetic equipment desterilising the surgical field - I used to be an operating theatre nurse.
Then afterwards, when she was supposedly in Intensive Care - lo and behold, she still had the oxygen mask on, but we could still hear the bl**dy ventilator in the background. She wasn't on a ventilator - but tv soap directors seem to think that any patient with an oxygen mask on is being ventilated so we get the noise going on - sometimes we even see the flippin' ventilator - but it's not connected to the patient - they are getting oxygen through the ordinary green tubing that connects directly to the oxygen supply on the wall.
And she looked very fit after her operation too. People look pale and ill after surgery.
Ok - rant over - sorry. As you were.
