that programme just advertised " life before birth" looks interesting.

GeorginaA · 05/04/2005 21:54

Oh, btw... I understand the Two and the BySea ... If?

[random aside while in the boring chatty bit]

swiperfox · 05/04/2005 22:00

thats what i was meaning earlier - sit on the floor all together and play a game and they really appreciate it

swiperfox · 05/04/2005 22:01

on the diet thing as well - could be that maybe the eldest one has some underlying bullying isses at school coz he's bigger and thats what makes him aggressive

nutcracker · 05/04/2005 22:01

Hmmm well at least it's shown me that mine aren't half as bad as i thought (most of the time)

unicorn · 05/04/2005 22:04

how long had the kids been behaving like this beforehand?
and how long was Supernanny with them?
It just seems a little too simplistic IYSWIM.

LGJ · 05/04/2005 22:04

Well I wouldn't have had four like that if I couldn't control one, but then I missed the first two minutes, when did the problems start ??

Or was it at conception ????

pepsi · 05/04/2005 22:06

Did you notice how nice the house looked though, very clean and new looking despite being savaged by mini-thugs. They must spend a lot of time tidying and clearing up. I was amazwed they didnt look into their diets as this could be linked to behaviour. All 4 children were overweight.

unicorn · 05/04/2005 22:07

wasn't a set up was it???

LGJ · 05/04/2005 22:13

Overweight !!!!!!!!!

The eldest one wobbled

katzguk · 05/04/2005 22:14

i wil just say OMG!!

marthamoo · 05/04/2005 22:19

Blimey O Riley

LGJ · 05/04/2005 22:20

Blimey O Riley

Marthamoo,... have you been seeing my DH, are you in Europe tonight by any chance ?? He is ??

marthamoo · 05/04/2005 22:23

Ah well.... that would be telling!

LGJ · 05/04/2005 22:27

S'ok

If you are on here tomorrow complaing of sleep deprivation, I will know it is you.

He snores like a pig, good luck

eidsvold · 05/04/2005 22:33

This programme has just started over here in Aus and we have not had that one yet. THe one we had this week had a 3 yo who would just wander out of the house whenever he felt like it. The mother said to supernanny - he does this all the time and I then have to roam the neighbourhood to find him!!!! For goodness sake - lock the front door I thought. How can you be totally oblivious to where your children are!!!

In the part when the sn is away and they are left on their own - the 3 yo took off and no one knew where he was. He was wandering the street, stepping out and crossing roads without looking - totally oblivious to the danger. The parents had no clue where he was.

When the supernanny returned she let them have it and simply put a $5 chain on the door that the kids couldn't reach so they could not just wander out of the house when they felt like it.

I think that the parents I have seen so far simply take the easiest option rather than wanting to put in the hard yards and then are surprised when things are not what they want.

marthamoo · 05/04/2005 22:34

I shall put your mind at rest, LGJ. I am home alone (well, kids in bed) as dh is on call. I have changed the sheets because one of my secret treats is changing the bed whenever dh is on call so I get one night in a sweet smelling, freshly laundered bed all by myself. I am going to have a bath, put on clean 'jamas, and read my book - without my own loudly snoring dh to bug me. Bliss.

Deviated from the thread somewhat there so I shall add another observation on the four delightful children...bet they weren't strangers to turkey twizzlers.

marthamoo · 05/04/2005 22:37

Agree, eidsvold - and they just don't seem to get that the 'easy' option is actually anything but. Taking the easy option just makes life so much harder in the long run. I know it's car crash TV, and I know it's so easy to sit and watch and feel utterly smug - but some of these parents just don't seem to have an ounce of basic common sense. And yet they're not stupid - I just don't get it.

clary · 05/04/2005 23:19

I was watching this open mouthed and also in tears at times....couldn't believe the language from a 4yo (or even a 10yo!) asyou all say, worse than the f-word so they had to bleep it????
I also wondered about their diet, did look like a lot of crap food and the two older ones were definitely overweight.
But interestingly the mum wasn't and the house looked pretty nice and big too, parents clearly educated and intelligent, just left wondering how it had got so bad. Just couldn't believe it when the nanny was threatened with a brick - and the spitting!!!
I know these things just make you feel smug about your own skills but I did feel sad and sorry for the mum and dad.
Staggered btw that supernanny had to tell her to get everything ready the night before for school! doesn't everyone do that???
(Or could I be paid heaps of money to dispense this sort of advice - eg give your kids some nice food and some attention and theybmight behave better???)

jasper · 05/04/2005 23:59

If my kids behaved like that I would not be able to decide whether to throw them or myself off a bridge

jasper · 06/04/2005 00:02

They could make a start by calling in Dr Gillian McKeith

hunkermunker · 06/04/2005 00:02

Clary, I wondered about their diet too. And also how long people needed to see programmes that said 'be nice to your children, be interested in them and give them boundaries' before they got it

SPARKLER1 · 06/04/2005 00:05

I only caught the last two minutes as I've been out food shopping. My bf has taped it for me though as I was on the phone to her earlier telling her what a little s* my five year old dd has been recently.

wheresmyfroggy · 06/04/2005 00:12

sparkler-Think your little one will be an angel compared to little joseph in supernanny

pepsi · 06/04/2005 08:00

I wonder what their behaviour is like at school? Surely they cant be little angels as the contrast would be stark. I bet their teachers/friends/family watched with their jaws on the floor................dont expect too many party invites this year kids!
