I don't understand.
In all of these programmes, the nanny/psychologist/whoever teaches the parents that they can bring their children round and stop naughty/agressive behaviour by giving them quality time, love and praise.

Why and how do parents ever stop doing that??? My two are the best things in the world to me and I couldn't imagine ever not praising them every day or spending time doing stuff with them - even a drawing or a puzzle.

Makes no sense to me when parents can't do that with their kids then wonder why they turn into attention seeking monsters!!!

Sorry - rant over!!!!

KATG Asseptable

Yes it is the same Nanny, not sure she has washed her hair since the last series.

surely its the same logic as having a dog - you treat a dog like crap it bites you!!

Misdee, that's Nanny 911, a similar programme where there are 3 different Mary Poppins style English nannies.

Supernanny is the same, with Jo "asseptable" Frost.

I'm great, by the way.

Does she even pronounce the 'a'? Sounds like 'sseptabl' to me!

swiperfox: I expect a lot of it depends on how you yourself were parented, and whether you are getting bogged down in life and its everyday stresses. I know I have to check myself on a regular basis and think hang on, what kind of mother do I really want to be.

Not excusing it in any shape or form, but I can sort of see how it gets like that.

My dsts (3) are going through a rebellious stage but this has made me feel much better! I sometimes feel like all I say is "no" but look what happens when you don't, eh?

And we have the naughty corner in this house as we also have no room for an entire zone! The naughty step proved too interesting so corner, facing the wall it is!

Did you see that Joseph (the yonugest boy?) had had a box full of toys confiscated and the others were pretty empty?!

GeorginaA · 05/04/2005 21:44

LOL

I send ds1 up to his room - probably far too interesting, but it makes me laugh how Kevin the teenager he gets stomping up and slamming his door. Well you have to get your kicks somewhere I do get a tearful apology afterwards

I have to say, sorting out MAJOR bad behaviour while they're under school age and you can still drag them to the naughty zone is a big bonus watching this... shakes head in disbelief

Maybe their diet needs sorted too. I can always tell when dst have had too many sweets (i.e. when they have been visiting my mum!) as they go hyper.

It seems to be the eldest one, Ben (?) and Joseph who are worst but I don't hear the good behaviour of the other two being mentioned by the parents. It is nice for them to hear how good they are behaving instead of being attentive to only the bad.

I did think it funny when the daughter said to the mum who was struggling to drag Ben into the naughty zone "Put your back in it mum!"
